It's a mystery. Probably one that will never be solved: (From Associated Press) Soldiers who witnessed the shooting rampage at Fort Hood that left 13 people dead reported that the gunman shouted "Allahu Akbar!" — an Arabic phrase for "God is great!" — before opening fire, the base commander said Friday....
The motive for the shooting wasn't clear, but Hasan was apparently set to deploy soon and had expressed some anger about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Personally, I blame Bush. Update by Barbarossa: Instapundit adds this tidbit:
On NPR I heard — I can’t find the story on their website yet — that he had given a presentation on the Koran at a professional conference where he claimed that unbelievers should be beheaded, burned, etc. to the discomfiture of the attendees.
But nobody saw this coming...
The military really needs to take a close look at the mosque this guy attended. He didn’t come up with these killings all on his own. I would bet on it.

“He took a lot of extra classes in weapons training, which seems a little odd for a psychiatrist,” McCaul said.

There were clear warning signs ... but no one took them seriously. I write this based on the news last evening ... on Fox ... so who knows if it is correct?

I think there is a reason to fear muslims. Islam is a religion of hatred. While I don’t fear muslims - I do fear what our Government is letting them get away with.
I will no longer knowing do business with any muslim business or business person. I will advocate that no mosques or islam schools be permitted in the USA. I will also advocate that no muslims be given citizenship in the USA or allowed to enter the USA or hold any elected or appointed government position.
I will undoubtedly be offending some people including some members of my family and church - but I have had enough!

My working theory is that he was disgruntled about the cafeteria food on the base, but I'm continuing to seach for clues on this mystery regarding the motive.
It’s to the point where I expect a newscaster to be doing a liveshot from City Hall as Muslims stage a loud demonstration against our military presence in the middle east, and for City Hall to suddenly explode into an orange ball of flame — and the newscaster to shout “Oh my God! Oh my God! I can’t believe it! Well — the one thing we can say — Oh my God! The one thing we can say at this point is that this is not a terrorist act!”
