Fort Hood tragedy: A Muslim’s perspective (**BARF ALERT**)
Waco Tribune ^ | 11/5/2009 | Wendy Gragg

Posted on 11/05/2009 6:41:34 PM PST by markomalley

Al Siddiq, president of the Islamic Center of Waco, followed the unfolding news of the Fort Hood tragedy anxiously, as a veteran of the U.S. Army himself, as a friend of some Muslim soldiers currently stationed at the Central Texas post and as a Muslim who has become wary of backlash.

Siddiq said the Muslim Islamic community is very concerned that the shooter on Fort Hood was a Muslim because Muslims tend to get all thrown into the same category. Since 9/11, Siddiq said, when an individual Muslim acts stupid, it affects the entire Islamic community. The concern is backlash against other Muslims, he said.

“We’ve been very fortunate in Waco,” Siddiq said. “But there’s always a backlash.” Siddiq said he had a great experience in the U.S. Army, both in Korea and stationed at Fort Campbell.

“That’s what hurts me the most,” he said. “The Army has accommodated Muslims. Not any other Army can offer what the U.S. Army offers.”

Siddiq said what he has heard is that the Fort Hood shooter may be a convert to Islam. He said he thinks the problem some converts have is not based on the Islam religion, but on the resentment toward the U.S. government that they bring to their faith.

Instead of talking backlash and making excuses he ought to be offering condolences to the Ft. Hood family.

For once, I'd LOVE to see some anti-Muslim backlash. The bad way we treated the Irish-Americans in the 19th Century, German-Americans in WWI and Japanese-Americans in WW II did one positive thing...it made them have to prove their loyalty to America.

Muslims haven't had to prove any such thing. They're getting a free ride. They can be as anti-american as they want, and don't fear any repercussion.

Gee, I can't imagine why that is. Perhaps they should try, oh, I don't know...NOT killing non-muslim Americans for a change.

And maybe the ones who aren't doing the killing should stand up and condemn those who are? My Mom was a wealth of one-liners and old sayings. In this case her comment would have been “Silence gives consent.”

BACKLASH???
I’d give them backlash. There would not be ONE Muslim left in the US armed services tonite. Not one. Every one in Ft. Hood would have been rounded up and dispatched right after the shooting.
We have taken the enemy into our midst and this is the result.
When I first heard of the shooting I told my sister- it’s a Muslim, watch! She doubted me- and hours later I was proven right.
Muslims should not be in our military, our cities, our country- period. To hell with ‘fair’. We’re going to ‘fair’ our society into extinction.
And I somehow doubt that the families of the dead soldiers care about being ‘fair’ right now.

To hell with Islam and every Muslim on the planet.Murderous barbarians, every last one of them.

The concern is backlash against other Muslims, he said. When you condone, excuse, and equivocate acts of terror and when you DON'T condem or offer condolences what exactly do you expect.

Maybe if the so called "moderate muslums" would speak out against terror now and again we would feel compelled to lump you all in the same violent death cult. Until then. GUILTY AS CHARGED.

Less whining about non-existent backlash and more condolences for the victims would be in order. I saw this guy’s picture. Looks like an Arab. I doubt he is a “convert.”

“STUPID” hardly cuts it when talking about this cold blooded MURDER.

When a person’s religion is their reason for killing, then all members of that religion are suspect - AS THEY SHOULD BE. Islam specifically calls for this - it is not an instance of an isolated mental case popping off - it is a tenet of their danged CULT.

But Barack fricking Hussein fricking Obama has their back...

*snif* poor Islamic community. Wonder if they are 'affected' in the same way individuals working at the WTC and the Pentagon were?

Nah this POS member of ROP was born into the ROP
He didn’t convert and he did just what his ROP preaches

I’m sick of the members of the ROP making every excuse they can to make themselves look like the victims they are not.

ROP isn’t a religion it is a political philosophy incompatible with freedom or being an American.
They shouldn’t let the door hit them in the A$$

Their silence and excuse making confirms they agree with what happened. Their excuses say much.

The whole coverage of this story is so wrapped up in PC nonsense. Even Fox was tripping all over themselves trying not to make the muslim connection. Now that it can’t be denied they’re going all out to minimize it. Now I wonder what the coverage would be if by some fluke Malik Nadal Hasan was found to be a Leboneese Christian?

I told my wife the same thing. I knew it as soon as I heard the news, and I live fairly close to FT. Hood. I have bought lunch for soldiers at Andy’s in Gatesville. Tonight I’m very sad, and mad.

Unfortunately, some vigilantes can’t tell the difference between sikhs and muslims and some innocent people could get hurt.
