NBC reverses Bloomberg call
Politico ^ | 02 NOV 09 | Ben Smith

NBC reverses Bloomberg call Wow: This is looking to be a very long night for the billionaire-incumben-frontrunner in New York.

With more than a third of the votes in, it's a one-point race. NBC called it for Bloomberg -- but just reversed that call. The New York Times continues to indicate that Bloomberg has won.

It’s a bad night to be a big-spending northeast billionaire candidate.

Too close to call — he’s spent nearly $85 million on his campaign (worth $17 billion).

Could this be an issue that so many thought he would win that no one showed up?

In an election with two democrats, the honest one deserves to win. Thanks for giving the next mayor an extra four years to mess up the city verses only eight.

I hadn’t even heard this. NBC projected Bloomberg to lose at one point? Wow that is a shocker. It was so much closer than expected. Can’t stand the mayor but the only up side is the official Demo candidate has now lost the last 5 mayoral elections in NYC! Remarkable.

Hey if you want to focus on the lack ofpersonal generosity, how about going after Obama instead? In the year before he began running for Prez (when he suddenly had a giving conversion) , tax returns show that Barack and Michelle gave 1.1% of their more than $1 million combined income to charity.

Of course, normally I would say that's his business,...but not if he's going to go around complaining about others' lack of generosity.

The networks were slow on the uptake. The NJ channel called it for Christie a half hour before the rest.
