WASHINGTON For Republicans, an election win of any size Tuesday would be a blessing. But victories in Virginia, New Jersey or elsewhere won't erase enormous obstacles the party faces heading into a 2010 midterm election year when control of Congress and statehouses from coast to coast will be up for grabs.
It's been a tough few years for the GOP. The party lost control of Congress in 2006 and then lost the White House in 2008 with three traditional Republican states Indiana, North Carolina and Virginia abandoning the party.

Yes, the problems will still be there, but the Rats will be cowed back into their little Rat holes for a few more years.
Tuesday's Elections results: Better then expected for Democrats.
Remember kids:
Dem victory: bellwether
GOP victory: mirage
AP is right for once. Conservatives need to keep up the pressure with the Republican Party, and the Republican Party needs to kick the snot out of Democrats come 2010. If we can get rid of more RINOs, that should be a done deal.
Let me guess. Liz Sidoti?
Don’t throw me into that briar patch.
AP ios spinning so bad I think the author’s hair must be on fire.
Wouldn’t that show that Democrat losses mean there are Democrat Party problems?
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find only things evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelogus
On a media-DNC collusion that produced the "culture of corruption" talking point (Foley, the toe-tapper, and Tom DeLay).
Tom DeLay's case STILL has not been brought to trial, it was a Stalinist show trial and a partisan witchhunt.
Nancy Pelosi promised us the most ethical congress in history and well she lied.
Lol...I hope there are many articles like this written Wednesday and rewritten all the way until November 2010. Whistling past the graveyard the dems/ media are...
There really is something brewing in this country, and it isn’t going to be pretty for the libs.
In 1994, the media spin (from Peter Jennings) was that America “threw a temper tantrum” by seating the GOP in Congress.
There is always a perception that the rats get more of the vote than they actually do. I actually had to argue with an acquaintance who insisted that Obama got more than 60 percent of the popular vote nationwide.
He wouldn’t even believe the CNN website showing Obama with 53% of the national vote.
They are right. Still a giant loss for the GOP, but a bigger loss for the left, and a massive win for conservatism.
After Scuzzi in NY-23, I truly can’t tell the difference between the DNC and the RNC. It may have been locals that nominated Scuzzi, but Newt and Steele backed her big time, and denigrated conservative R’s that backed Hoffman.
The D’s have simply taken the country toward fascism at double the rate of speed that the R’s did.
AP has the nerve to run this as a news article. Yes they can! What nonsense. Democrats have more than a few problems that won’t be erased any time soon either.
They will keep quiet about the totally anti-American left wing slave party the Democrats and call them winners no matter the outcome.
You know, I couldn’t care less what the MSM bullies say. We’re going to bloddy their nose over and over again until the RINOs and Marxists are all run out of office!
Yeah, 1994 was something else. We heard Contract on America a million times. When it worked, silence.
