'I hope' Obama not delaying troop decision to help Corzine and Deeds'

Utah Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch brought up a claim he said "some people" have made, that President Barack Obama is waiting until after this year's gubernatorial election in New Jersey and Virginia before making a decision on sending more troops to Afghanistan.

“Some people have even been, I think, hyper-critical in suggesting that he’s waiting until after the election because they have some tough governorships up for election” Hatch said In an appearance on CNN’s State of the Union with John King, “I hope that’s not the case.”

Ohio Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown said he knows Hatch didn’t say he believes that, but called it "outrageous … that partisans in this country would say that the President of the United States" is delaying the decision on troops for political reasons.

On ABC's "This Week" Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell tried to frame the Virginia governor's race - where polls show Republican Bob McDonnell firmly in the lead - as a referendum on the Democratic majority in Congress.

Calling the race a "test case," McConnell said the race showed Democratic approach was losing support from the American people.

Of course he is. Obama is a Political Machine he makes not decision without weighing the consequence to HIM. That is the difference between him and Bush. Bush did unpopular things because he was Right and he stood on his convictions. Obama is making everything Hyper Partisan and is playing to his radical lefties so he can get health reform and get some of these close elections under his belt before he screws them over with a massive SURGE. Troop increase. Obama will do exactly what Bush did and he hopes that his place in the Polls won't suffer like Bushes. Notice how you don't see or hear form Code Pinky and Mama Sheehan much anymore? Because it doesn't fit the Obama template. Political expedience at its best in Obama land. How many Americans he can fool with this rhetoric remains to be seen.

That has been my contention all along. The Dems always see foreign policy as an extension of domestic politics. Obama is holding off on Afghanistan until the Nov 3 elections are over. He knows that whatever decision he makes will piss off large numbers of people.

Let’s just say that the chance of Obama making a decision before Tuesday on the Afghanistan troop request is ZERO.

Personally I think he’s just paralyzed with fear over what is the safe political choice to make on afghanistan.

“.........”outrageous … that partisans in this country would say that the President of the United States” is delaying the decision on troops for political reasons.”

Nothing “outrageous” about the statement. THAT is the DEMOCRAT way. All politics, all the time, and lying politics all the time just as is that statement.

He won’t make a decision right after the election, because it would look too obvious. He’ll wait a little longer to avoid the association. PrickOTUS

Agreed. I don’t really think this administration cares that much about the rest of the Democratic party, but merely its own fortunes.

I think his delay on Afghanistan is primarily because he’s desperately trying to walk a fine line and avoid the label ‘war president’ while not appearing soft on national defense.

Ironically, he’s failing miserably at both.

Obama IS delaying the decision on troops for political reasons, period.

That traitor is only interested in himself.

I wouldn’t put it past him to be simply waiting for the body count of dead American Troops to rise to a point that helps him pull out altogether.

Obama is a filthy traitor involved in a criminal enterprise against the American people.

2012 can’t get here soon enough.
