Cash bail offer to be filed for Roman Polanski on Monday

PARIS — A French lawyer for director Roman Polanski, imprisoned in Switzerland, says a new bail offer will be filed Monday and it will be a "very, very significant" cash amount.

Swiss authorities rejected an offer Friday, considering the 76-year-old filmmaker awaiting a decision on extradition to the United States a high flight risk. They noted it was not a cash offer.

Herve Temime told France-Info radio Sunday the latest offer is in cash. He wouldn’t say how much. He said Polanski would accept the extradition decision "whatever it is" and assured his client would never behave "like a fugitive."

It’s ALWAYS about monwy. If he’s let loose what are the odds he mysteriously disappears. AGAIN.

Now Mr. Rabbit, if I put you down, do you promise not to run away?

Does ANYONE believe the most famous fugitive of the last 40 years won't RUN AWAY!!!!?

If it works ... he’ll pull a disappearing act. His friends will be gratefully and gleefully helping. The French government will have egg all over their face ... for about 60 seconds until someone in the US opens his mouth and apologizes.

I agree. He has already proved that and that he is more important than the victim by the very selfish acts he has committed.

But the scumbag didn’t disappear. He’s been living like a king in Europe for over 30 years.

Oh, and in case anyone forgot: He has a then 15-year old Nastassja Kinski move in with him after the rape. IMO, that confirms that he is a pedophile.

shuuuure ;-) especially because the save have (france) is only about 2 hours driving away (and there are no border controlls between france and the swiss). i´m shure he would wait in the swiss untill he will be extradited to the US (where he likely will end in prison) instead of traveling 2 hours in a car or train.

Exactly!

That wad of used toilet paper would split faster than a vampire at dawn’s first light. No question about it.

Yes, and this particular piece of bulls**t “walked” the last time he posted bail. I hope his offer is rejected on that basis.

Agreed. If Polanski is going to “accept the extradition decision ‘whatever it is’” and “never behave ‘like a fugitive,” I can’t see what the problem is.

Someone give him a link to the Travelocity website.

There must be lots of commercial planes leaving Geneva for the United States every day. He should be here by now! Why, I’ll bet if he asked for one, the US government could arrange transportation.

/sarcasm off

LOL! You’re dead-on right. He’ll be scampering off the minute he sees daylight. I hope the Swiss aren’t stupid enough to let him post bail.

If the Swiss take the offer, there will be a Roman Polanski sized hole in the air as he runs for the hills.

Hard to say...but you'd have to factor the "significant" cash bail posted for him into the equation.

If he skips again...then bail is forfeit...and he'll have some seriously pissed off people after him then. People with access to resources who would think nothing of separating him into multiple pieces and casting said pieces to the Four Winds. You know the type.

I'd say the odds are 2 to 1 in favor of Polanski appearing where he's ordered to be. That's IF the cash bail offer is accepted.

oh of course i guess usually this is “the standart child molesters” first guess. so maybe in younger years. but why fly to the other end of the globe when you can spend the rest of your life in france or poland. but anyway why this 2 countries are willing to protect a child molester is beyond me.
