Owners of vehicles with ONSTAR are already in the system with their driving patterns.

What if it means that, one day, your auto insurance company will know that you regularly arrive home on weekends at 2:15 a.m., just after the bars close?

i'm a bartender, of course i return home around 2:15am on weekends.

against thorny privacy issues.

There is not right to privacy between two private (non-governmental) persons.

If my auto insurance company demands I allow my driving habits to be monitored, I can accpet that offer or reject it (and find another auto insurance company.)

The free market will work this out.

Put one of these on your home and you will lower the resale price as many Americans won’t want the house. I’m sure once the meter is installed, they won’t let you switch it back.

Will a renter be able to request one of these without the permission of the owner of the home?

What a strange coincidence that Obama is now pushing the smart grid. Will we see reductions in electrical availability for those who do not vote as he prefers?

I would tell my electric utility to go pound salt (which I hope we would all do, as their heads will start to explode when the ROI numbers on their Smart Grid investments start coming up ZERO)

Electric company just offered my 90 year old Mom a deal. For an annual rebate of $50 they would put a smart switch on her air conditioner which would shut down the unit during periods of peak demand. Like, when it is really hot outside.

Mom declined.

I would NEVER allow that system to be installed in my home.

I dont even call them smart meters.. I call them what they are.. Spy meters.

They can go shut off the AC in all the Obama voters homes before they will ever get access to mine.

Looks like its time to beef up my already existing solar setup here.

If the meter knows what’s good for it it won’t say a damn thing.

Smart grid is a lame attempt to create Federally subsidized green jobs because we are unable to create real jobs due to 0bama idiocy and our outsourcing of industry to China/Asia the last 25 years

IBM advertises heavy for smart grid because it looks to get on the Federal gravy train.
IBM wants to provide the computers, software etc for the smart grid

The day the meter opens its mouth it will get busted in the chops.

I am so sick of all this “smart stuff”.
