I’m glad to hear we’re compatible on this issue. It would seem that every U.S. loving Citizen would be compatible on these matters.

Sadly, some folks jump into these threads and make a number of false assumptions. This isn’t about inferiority or mongrel races. It’s about the rule of law and sound policies that contribute to us being one people, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. And yes, even citizens.

When talk of racism comes up, the people making the charge fail to see that advocating for open borders is racist. Don’t the Polish, the Germans, the French (well I don’t know about the French ;-) ), the Japanese, Indians and members of other nations deserve an equal chance to come here? Why then allow one nation to flood ours, in deference to a balanced access to all people? Wouldn’t doing that be consummately racist? Of course it would.

As you state, not learning the language is holding yourself back. And that goes for the citizens of any nation that come to the United States not proficient in English.

This doesn’t even address the issue of abuse, something the Mexican people expose themselves to from the first coyote they encounter, to the potential employer decades down the road.

Getting involved with a black market effort to enter this nation and avoid being caught, exposes the illegal Mexican national to harm. And those who profess to care about these folks the most, never quite get around to admitting this.

Why not?

I just addressed the plight of the illegal Mexican national as it relates to abuse. I concur with your observation. Not only are people paid dirt wages and abused, but other crimes can be committed that can’t be reported. Young women are put in dangerous situations. It’s just a bad scene any way you look at it.

Ouch. That’s gonna smart for folks who claim there’s no down side to the illegal influx.

That was inventive. I’ll give the guy that.

"She was very mad; she was very upset," Mondragon said of her mother's reaction. "We ended up taking her to the [emergency room] because she was nervous; she was just stressing over the ticket."

LOL, so how much will it take Dallas taxpayers to settle with these alien scumbags?

Why not? Good question. Probably these people only give lip service to their concern. It’s easy to feign compassion from afar.

2005 - Arizona voters last week approved Proposition 103, a constitutional amendment making English the official language of the state - similar to a proposition passed by state voters in 1988 and overruled a decade later by the Arizona and U.S. Supreme Courts. (Has little practical effect)

2000 - Arizona voters approved, by 63%, Proposition 203 requires pupils who are “English learners” to be taught in English (In Arizona there are 1,742 public schools where 48% of students are minorities.)

From Aug, 2009 regarding Prop 203:
A federal judge overstepped his authority in ordering Arizona lawmakers to provide more funds to teach English to students statewide, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled today.

The justices said it was improper for U.S. District Court Judge Raner Collins to issue a statewide injunction without evidence that school districts throughout Arizona are currently violating the Equal Education Opportunity Act...
A further federal review is ongoing.

For some that’s truly the case. It’s a lot easier to make some of these arguments from Michigan. When you make them from Texas and California, you’re just enabling illegality knowing the truth of it.

Hey, nice talking to you.

This is basically demographic warfare. English proficiency should be a required goal in the education curriculum of all ethnic minorities.

Good talking to you too. It’s nice to know somebody else recognizes the human aspect of the problem.

The only time you have a 3rd person in the driving test is when the 3rd person is an interpreter. You can have an interpreter in any language you speak.

From the DPS website:

Foreign Language Driver Examinations
The Department of Public Safety’s goals are to promote public safety and to ensure safe driving on all Texas roadways. While the Department is committed to serving the needs of all eligible driver license applicants, the primary focus for the examination process is the determination of an individual’s ability to safely operate a motor vehicle on the public roadways of Texas.
The driver license examination process is a highway safety activity. It is essential that individuals issued a driver license are knowledgeable of traffic laws, rules and traffic control signs as they operate vehicles on the public roadways of this state. A driver who can physically operate a vehicle but is unable to identify and understand traffic laws and highway signs in English places the public’s safety at risk.
The Texas Transportation Code, Section 521.162, requires the Department to administer driver examinations in Spanish to applicants who are unable to take the regular examination in English. A multitude of other languages and translation interpretations create difficulties for the Department to evaluate an individual’s knowledge of traffic laws and ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. It is also difficult to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the examination process when the examination is provided in numerous languages. Department personnel are not qualified to translate examinations into multiple foreign languages; therefore, the Department has relied upon the use of interpreters in conjunction with oral examinations. The use of interpreters affects the integrity of the examinations as there is no control to ensure the veracity and precision of the translation. Accordingly, limiting the driver examinations to English and Spanish will not only enhance highway safety but also maintain the integrity of the driver license examination process
Due to the highway safety concerns with multiple language driver examinations, effective July 21, 2008, the Department will administer driver license examinations only in English and Spanish in accordance with statute.

Again, you’d be happy someone stopped. You’d be happy anybody stopped.

Spinning more dumb scenarios about being trapped and unable to communicate doesn’t change that. Nor does having a long-suffering Mexican wife.

You have made it clear that you are unable to discuss this matter without bringing racism into the discussion. If I wanted to discuss this issue with Jessie Jackson or Al Sharpton, I’d go to a forum where they hang out.

It’s clear to me that you would be much happier in the company of Democrats & race baiters.

That’s not our style here.

Since you can’t grasp the need to communicate, I’ll just chalk you up as a person who advocates for illiteracy, another goal of the Democrats.

You’re funny. I’m still waiting for you to refute my simple point, which you can’t, so you resort to projection as a way to dismiss what is inconvienient to your point of view. This is the opposite of discussion. It is affirmation-seeking, but not a discussion.

I’ve been in the situation that you described and what you assert was not my experience. You are wrong on that specific point.

All this other silly stuff you bring in and write about Sharpton, etc. is simply an attempt to change the subject.

Take a look at our conversation and then deny you morphed this into a racial discussion vs the main issue I addressed. You can laugh all you like, but your tactic was a Shapton/Jackson ploy. Thus the humor was at your expense.

Your one experience is hardly the end-all of the conversation. It’s one example of what can happen and did, but ignores what can happen and didn’t this one time. So yes we agree, it was a simple point. It was one dimensional and ignores what could and will happen over time on the road.

Affirmation seeking? LMAO, your projecting. Good Lord you’re shallow. I don’t care if you agree with me or not. Just don’t pull the racist card out of your ass because you can’t deal with the points I’ve made. You won’t shut me up that way. Conservatives don’t bow to Sharpton/Jackson tactics. If you were one, you’d know that.

You changed the subject when you said I just didn’t like the looks of certain people. I called you on it for what you tried to pull. Deal with it.
