In Virginia, New High For McDonnell, Comfortable Leads for Other Republicans in VA Statewide Contests: Two weeks until votes are counted in the election for Virginia Governor, Republican Bob McDonnell continues to dominate Democrat Creigh Deeds, according to a SurveyUSA poll for WJLA-TV Washington DC and WDBJ-TV Roanoke. Compared to an identical SurveyUSA poll released two weeks ago, McDonnell is up 5 points; Deeds is down 3. Today, it's McDonnell 59%, Deeds 40%. McDonnell leads among both men and women, young and old, rich and poor, educated and less-educated, and in all regions of the state.
In the contest for Lieutenant Governor, Incumbent Republican Bill Bolling is today elected to a second term, defeating Democrat Jody Wagner, former Treasurer of VA and VA Secretary of Finance, 56% to 42%. Bolling has led by at least 10 points in all 5 SurveyUSA tracking polls. Wagner has never polled above 42%, which is what she has today.
Fellow Virginians, don’t drop your guard.
He did not "blather" about anything. AFAIK never said "man-made" global warming, but said "some scientists say the planet is warming."
And his opposition to cap and trade has been clear throughout the campaign.
If you're that misinformed, I seriously doubt you ever planned to support him anyway.
This does seem pretty amazing. But SurveyUSA was the most accurate poll in 2008.
Either way, it’s demoralizing for the dems. So we need to promote it every chance we get.
Poor New Jersey. Always an afterthought ;)
Now they say things are looking good because only 350,000 jobs lost this month
I hear Al Franken’s people are moving into position in Virginia. By the time they are through, McDonnell will have about 4% of the vote. Best to stock up on the K-Y Jelly!
He said, "I think [global warming] is a real concern and we have to find ways to reduce CO2 emissions. We need to promote new industries like carbon sequestration to try to reduce the amount of CO2 going into the air. Im going to accept the science thats out there and the science says that we need to do everything that we can to reduce CO2 emissions to the atmosphere and that will help."
Sorry, but McDonnell made a pretty strong statement that he buys the nonsense. And any statement about science saying that we need to reduce CO2 is definitely blather. He didn't use the term man-made, but what do you think he meant when he spoke about "do[ing] everything that we can to reduce CO2 emissions?"
This isn't about a "pixel or two." This isn't a small matter: the global warming baloney and the policy prescriptions that are peddled with have significant impact. If you're willing to accept a Republican Party that fronts candidates that have bought into the global warming sham, that's your problem.
“Well, if you want to live like a Republican, you had damn well better vote CONSERVATIVE!” - Bill Clinton (in secret)...
I think Rasmussen had him today at up 9 points. Still, 9 points is a good lead, 19 is fantastic, if true.
No, my problem is pretty much trolls like you who don't have a clue about the candidates they trash.
Tell Creigh I said hello and...no hard feelings. 'K?
19 points seems a bit high ...
Sorry n00b, you’re not going to erode McDonnell’s lead at this point no matter how much stealth democrat slugslime you sling. There’s Deeds or McDonnell. You aren’t going to get Deeds elected, got it, skippy?
“About that poll... I’d say it’s an outlier, too”
Survey USA was the most accurate polling company in Virginia in 2008. Their final poll had it Obama 50 / McCain 46. The actual results were Obama 52 / McCain 46.
In 1993, George Allen won 58 - 41, so a 59 - 40 figure is not unheard of. And Bob McDonnell is just as good a candidate if not better than Allen was in ‘93.
“I first read McDonnells absurd comments over on Bearing Drift”
You should have been reading Virginia Virtucon...
heh...
Thought you’d get a kick out of that, Corin.
given that he just recently signed up for FR and is talking “big” my guess is you hit the nail on the head.....
