In Virginia, New High For McDonnell, Comfortable Leads for Other Republicans in VA Statewide Contests: Two weeks until votes are counted in the election for Virginia Governor, Republican Bob McDonnell continues to dominate Democrat Creigh Deeds, according to a SurveyUSA poll for WJLA-TV Washington DC and WDBJ-TV Roanoke. Compared to an identical SurveyUSA poll released two weeks ago, McDonnell is up 5 points; Deeds is down 3. Today, it's McDonnell 59%, Deeds 40%. McDonnell leads among both men and women, young and old, rich and poor, educated and less-educated, and in all regions of the state.

In the contest for Lieutenant Governor, Incumbent Republican Bill Bolling is today elected to a second term, defeating Democrat Jody Wagner, former Treasurer of VA and VA Secretary of Finance, 56% to 42%. Bolling has led by at least 10 points in all 5 SurveyUSA tracking polls. Wagner has never polled above 42%, which is what she has today.

Good news, but this is just a poll. Virginia--make it happen.

And New Jersey, too.

The final debate just finished up in Salem. McDonnell handled himself well. The two of them really went at it and covered a lot of ground in an hour.

If McDonnell wins by that margin the Democrats will be scared crapless.

Gotta be an outlier. I say McConnell wins comfortably, but not by 19.

If McConnell wins, they’ll say it doesn’t have anything to do with Obama. They’ll just throw Deeds under the bus.

But if Deeds wins, it will be ALL about Obama.

Wasn’t it 16 points before William Jefferson Clinton went there.

About that poll... I'd say it's an outlier, too.

Additionally, was this before or after McDonnell blathered about man-made global warming and flirted with cap-and-trade? That completely ended my McDonnell support and was yet another step out of the GOP's door for me. What is with the GOP?

As for Deeds and Obama - did anybody else receive Deeds' latest mailing (I assume it was a Fairfax/Arlington/Richmond/Norfolk-only mailing) that read, "Help President Obama. Elect Deeds." It was amusing and I suppose I should have scanned it and posted it here for public pillorying before I shredded it and composted it with the other horse manure.

I got a email yesterday from the NJEA asking if I wanted tickets to see Bill Clinton when he comes to Trenton to campaign for Corzine.

I told them I saw him once in my life, on his last day as President of the US, and I don't care to see him again.

I have to wonder just how much you supported Bob to begin with if you can toss your “support” altogether over something he says 2 weeks before election day.

You need to do your research. McDonnell specifically stated that there was no such thing as Man-Made global warming. And he's completely against cap-and-trade.

Where do you get your talking points from? DU?
