..My lab is also a rescue as a pup, she is going on 11 years old...The internet is a great place to find a dog...thats how I got Teesha. She was suppose to be 10 years old, but she was more like 12...a sweet girl, sometimes a pain, but she is family......
Ain't THAT the truth!
I turn them off without guilt....
Me too. Those ads just Pi$$ me off.
I don’t feel the least bit guilty either. I do my part, and I’m sure not going to support an organization that wants to do away with animal ownership.
My evil man-killing pit bull puppy is snuggled up with my sick baby girl. He loves her like crazy and sticks like glue when she is sick. My son is sick too, and the cat is curled up in his bed with him.

>>Those who cant wisely choose what to watch should remove the temptation.<<
I firmly agree. But I also think it goes deeper than that. Removing all TV advertising is what really impacted me the most.

Ooh, who cares.
Too many people dump cats. I think the above is a good idea. I have seen where trapping feral cats & spaying/neutering them has worked. They were returned to the fish docks & the fishermen liked having them around. They made sure they got all the fish they wanted & kept the rats away in return. However feral cats in a park isn't a good idea. I never let my kids play in sandboxes in parks due to cat feces & the health risks. I live by the ocean in the state of no guns & corruption aka NJ. We have a serious problem with people who visit us in the summer & dump cats by the boardwalk & beach. I don't even go to many of the beaches because of the cats. Cat bites are nasty & they use the beach as a big litter box. I think relocating them away from the beaches would be a great idea. Seems there is a group determined to keep them there. I think it is a health risk. I donate to my local shelter & stay away from the cat people. Laws here are quite different from Colorado laws.
With all due respect, you have NO idea what causes I support, donate to, volunteer for, what I pray about, etc. As this thread was about ANIMALS that’s the subject I addressed. There is plenty of need in this world, how dare you judge others for the causes they serve or the things they care about. The nearest planned parenthood to me is over 200 miles away. Do you want to come tend to my farm while I drive to it and pray for an end to abortion? Does God not hear the prayers I say right here or does he only hear anti-abortion prayers when one gets on their knees in front of a clinic? Self-righteousness does little to serve God.

The advertising has always been meaningless to me, even when I was a kid in the 50s, 60s when everyone was into TV I never paid much attention. I ocasionally get a laugh from one but the funny ones are few and far between. I mostly ignore them and they have never swayed me to buy anything I didn’t need or want. American advertising on TV is proof that any idiot can become a marketing executive and that there are a lot of people out there with mush between the ears.
You sound like me. I always saw ads at aimed at someone besides me. I do think they mold one’s world view in subtle ways. though.
Oops (facepalm)
Thanks guys!
The bad thing is, I think the MAJORITY of Americans think HSUS is the same as their local humane society, which makes them difficult to counter. :)
When I moved to San Antonio, I thought that Bexar Co. Humane Society was a part of HSUS also. It took a year before I figured out that it wasn’t, with the help of the dog forum I go to. That place, though, is wonderful, and they do run solely off of donations. Their place is always clean, and they do all kinds of things to help educate children on responsible pet ownership. I think they’re one of the best...although they never have any room! I found a kitten two months ago, and have been calling every morning for a spot (I won’t take animals to the city shelter) but they are always booked!
But it’s kind of like crying at a professional wrestling match.
Yes, I’m glad to hear the SAHS isn’t involved with the HSUS. Their facilities are so beautiful, and the people there were so nice!
Good luck rehoming the kitty!
