Details of Ellison's Muslim pilgrimage pose ethics problem for House Democrats
The US Report ^ | 12 Oct 2009 | Chris Carter

Posted on 10/12/2009 7:39:05 AM PDT by Crush

House ethics officials have called for disclosure of costs associated with Minnesota Democrat Rep. Keith Ellison's religious pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia last year. Originally, Ellison – who is the United States' first Muslim congressman – opted not to announce the cost of the trip, which had a price tag of $13,350. More disturbing than Ellison's lack of transparency is the fact that The Star-Tribune (Minn.) said the Muslim American Society of Minnesota (MAS) paid the $13,350 bill for Ellison’s two-week visit to Mecca.

Americans have great cause for concern. The Chicago Tribune said the MAS, despite calling itself an "independent group," reportedly has roots in the Muslim Brotherhood – the world's most influential Islamic fundamentalist group. The Brotherhood's own documents state that their aim is to destroy not only the U.S., but Western civilization. The Investigative Project on Terrorism published a memo of intent:

“The [Muslim Brotherhood] must understand that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and 'sabotaging' its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.”
According to the Council on Foreign Relations, The Muslim Brotherhood gave birth to the Palestinian chapter of the Brotherhood, the terrorist group HAMAS – definitely the kind of folks our congressmen should not be taking money from if an agenda includes official business.

Seems like there are quite a few congresspersons who are “opting to not announce” the cost of their business dealings, personal ventures, etc.

Indianapolis is represented by Andre’ Carson, the Radical Muslim son of former Congresswoman Julia Carson.

And local media has NEVER even mentioned the muslim part.

Utterly amazing....

I don't think so. This is the Minnesota 5th Congressional District. It's so far left that it can meet itself coming and going.
Have a closer look at the history of the guy Ellison replaced if you need perspective.

Isn't there a limit of the size of gifts to a congressman?

The Muslim bit isn’t what concerns me. It’s the radical part. Can you imagine a “radical” Christian conservative (whatever that is) being elected to Congress? That would not fly. So why does the media pretend that the only problem with Ellison’s trip is that he didn’t disclose it properly?

Like all laws and regulations, “ethics regulation[s] about members of congress” don’t apply to members of congress.

He seems to have admitted how much he got. Maybe it's just me but it seems a bad idea for any congressman to be taking what amounts to a bribe from a terrorist organization...but I realize that democrats and conservatives have different values on accepting bribes.

She has a snowball's chance in July to make headway in the Minnesota 5th. If the former occupant of the job, Martin (mouthbreather) Sabo can serve 46 years in government, there may be no way to knock off his replacement at the ballot box.

I think it’s incongruous for a Muslim to be a Liberal.

When Muslims are in power, all the Liberal cherished dogmas become capital offenses: abortion, homosexuality, free love, feminism, ...

In a weird way, I’d enjoy hearing all the liberals squeal if they ever had to live under Shari’ia laws.

You mean someone who "radically" loves his fellow man, even those who are his enemy? I don't think this can be compared to those who "radically" want to behead all those who do not bow before the moon god.

Article III Section 3 of the US Constitution states: “Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.”

That said, can anyone explain how the Muslim Brotherhood, WITH ITS STATED AIMS, is not eliminated? The KKK is denounced as racist, while Muslim Brotherhood enjoys tax exemption!

Beam me up Scotty, there is no intelligent life here.

In my area (KS 3rd Dist.) our congresscritter not only "opts out of reporting...." he also has opted out of holding even one public townhall on the healthcare bills, claiming "fears for his, his staff and family physical well-being."

Mr. Scaredy Cat did manage to hold some "private" sessions to groups for which the "healthcare bills would most affect." Huh, we the people will be the "most affected" yet he can't bother with us, his voters, he only approached medical groups, the Chamber of Commerce, where he did get some heckling, and donor fundraisers.

He now claims to have 7 million in campaign funds for the 2010 election.

Why, this is KS, what in the world does the guy need 7 million for? Certainly not for various ads in our local newspaper, which always runs stories positive to him and no matter who his opponent is, endorses him and the TVs channels follow suit.

Yes, he also opts out of giving any details on anything, especially his various expenditures - "on our behalf," naturally.

Can anyone say that we do not need profiling of all of the mosques in the USA? We need to make sure that 5th columns are not allowed to exist because Obama is so PC, he wants all to be accepted. Nonsense. Make sure we are not hit domestically and internally. Enough of this PC stuff. Ellison will not be indicted like Charlie Rangel and Murtha were not. These guys are liberal protected PC people.

I heard on the radio on Sunday that he had attended St. John's Episcopal Church for the second time with this family.

The report made a point of saying that President 0bama has not yet chosen a church, but had attended several churches, this among them.

I don't think he is comfortable with main-stream Christianity, but what do I know;-)
