US 'to cut immigrant detention' (could be kept in hotels and nursing homes)

US officials are expected to announce plans that would allow illegal immigrants not considered a threat to be taken out of jails, reports say.

The new policy would list immigrants according to the risk they may pose, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Detainees who are not criminals could be kept in hotels and nursing homes, according to leaks of the plans.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano is expected to give details of the plans later.

Her department is hoping to cut the costs of detaining immigrants, which stood at almost $2bn (£1.3bn) in 2008.

It says alternatives like the hotels and nursing homes would cost about $14 a day, compared to about $100 a day for detention.

Health needs

Each year some 380,000 illegal immigrants are detained in US jails alongside regular prisoners, ahead of deportation.

Why not deport them NOW?

I’ve read where some of our veterans are without jobs and homes. How is it that we can take care of these illegals, yet not our former military people?

Wow. Swim the Rio Grande, stay in a hotel courtesy of Napolitano - all bills paid vacation. There are 25 million residents in Mexico City. Imagine how many want a vacation in the USA.

Send them home you G D M F _itch! Somebody get this woman some medical help. Nobody in their right mint would pick up the bill for hotel fees for these illegals. And there's no reason whatsoever to house them in nursing homes.

Deport them to the nation of their origon, and let their homeland sort it out from there.

Napolitano is nuts. I certainly don't want to put my family at risk on a trip by staying at a hotel that might have illegal aliens awaiting deportation in it.

She's gotta' do better than this ~ maybe keep them in her basement. They can mow her grass and wash her dishes while they wait.

And nursing homes? Was Napolitano the Obamista who wrote up the stuff about punishing patients? You know the ones ~ you miss paying your "fee" they send you to jail for a year.

Hey, now we know why she's doing this ~ it's to open up cell space for misbehaving Obamacare patients.

When these nutballs are finally out of office let's make sure they get detained in some sort of facility that will give the rest of us a warm and fuzzy feeling that they are permanently out of our hair.

It’s this sort of news article that we all should know will never be reported in the US MSM, or if it is reported within our borders will be on PBS broadcasting BBC that we need to flag, and forward to family, friends, and associates on our individual mailing lists.

I’m going to send this one to about 23 individuals I have on my list that I know will appreciate this information right now.

Oh, I know - I know!! Maybe Janet could send each detainee to live with a family. That way there would be no cost to the government at all.

I wonder where that $14 figure came from.
