The irony in this is that socialism and religion have the same moral code ... altruism.
Socialism isn’t about altruism. It is about “fairness”. They take from the rich (not very altruistic) to make the poor dependant and entitled.
Religion on the other hand cares about all. They don’t rob from the rich to feed the poor. They give to the poor often sacrifically. The poor are not only fed but ministered to. In this situation, the poor are often humbled and grateful. This inspires them to turn their lives around. They in turn minister to others less fortunate.
“The irony in this is that socialism and religion have the same moral code ... altruism.:
No, religion and socialism DON’T have the same moral code. They have some similar moral imperatives, but fundamentally, they’re very wide apart morally. Some “Catholics” are willing to tolerate abortion because they think the Bible says to help the poor (which it does). BUT, the Bible does not teach taking from your neighbor to give to the poor; that’s still stealing. It says we’re supposed to be charitable with OUR OWN money. Charity at the end of an IRS gun isn’t charity.
