Socialism isn’t about altruism. It is about “fairness”. They take from the rich (not very altruistic) to make the poor dependant and entitled.
Religion on the other hand cares about all. They don’t rob from the rich to feed the poor. They give to the poor often sacrifically. The poor are not only fed but ministered to. In this situation, the poor are often humbled and grateful. This inspires them to turn their lives around. They in turn minister to others less fortunate.
Altruism … “The doctrine that the welfare of society is the proper goal of an individual’s actions.”
Socialism … “Any of various theories or systems of the ownership and operation of the means of production and distribution by society or the community rather than by private individuals, with all members of society or the community sharing in the work and the products.”.
