ACORN Saga: Founder Wade Rathke Wants YOU To Go on Welfare (interview w/Rathke on Fox now)

Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) founder Wade Rathke wants to use the Internet to overthrow the capitalist system.

He said so in his new book, Citizen Wealth: Winning the Campaign to Save Working Families, in which he serves up some community organizing war stories, and offers his thoughts on the future of organizing. Rathke’s currently on a cross-country book tour.

Rathke, a pioneer of the so-called welfare rights movement that aims to get Americans on welfare, devotes an entire chapter of his book to what he calls “The ‘Maximum Eligible Participation’ Solution.” It is a strategy for orchestrated crisis that savvy leftist groups across America are likely to embrace. He writes:

“[I]t is hard to believe that we cannot assemble the troops to mount a campaign for maximum eligible participation that harvests the opportunities and dollars already available if we could achieve full utilization of existing programs.”

Rathke acknowledges his support for the Cloward-Piven Strategy, an approach to radical social and political change articulated by Marxist university professors Richard A. Cloward and Frances Fox Piven in a 1966 Nation article, “The Weight of the Poor: A Strategy to End Poverty.” The two academics called for “a massive drive to recruit the poor onto the welfare rolls” in an effort to overwhelm the system. [Italics in original.]

The strategy helped to bankrupt New York City in 1975. Years later, the Big Apple’s mayor, Rudy Giuliani, denounced the academic activists by name. “This wasn’t an accident,” Giuliani argued in a 1997 speech. “It wasn’t an atmospheric thing, it wasn’t supernatural. This is the result of policies and programs designed to have the maximum number of people get on welfare.”

At least this would explain the Democrats push for illegal immigrants to be given amnesty, to swell the welfare rolls and break the system.

Wow. Criminal money stalkers and creeps trying to grow the ranks of badly advised people.

This is sick and is becoming a terror threat.

They will march us and ourselves to the communist death march of self-betrayal.

Never surrender to these creeps. The “Bataan Death” march means that surrender to government or anything as retarded of stupid empowered force is automatic death.

Better fight for life. We get a chance there at least.

A charismatic and affable commie, but a red is a red.

Maybe he'll do a Horowitz and come back from the dark side, he would be effective.

Bingo. This language is the #1 threat, and Democrates themselves go with it.

Just as ugly on the outside as he is on the inside.
What wicked, cruel and evil folk we are all getting to meet, thanks to this administration!

Yeah, that was my take on it too. This guy is good and part of me thinks he really believes this crap. So, is Rathke the idealist who wants justice for the poor or is he an opportunist?

History and human nature tell us that what these people are attempting to do is anathema to the human spirit and doesn’t help the poor or anyone else.

Let me see here. Back in 1966 - 1971 when I was in grade school and people had much less than they do now we had 4 kids out of a class of 100 getting free lunches. And they had to work in the kitchen serving and cleaning up for that. Today 75% of kids much well off than we as a group were then are GIVEN free lunches and everyone thinks it is just wonderful. Heck they even provides free breakfast and lunch during the summer time when school is out. Sick. Think this is part of this commie plan. I do. And it is just a small part. Now a family of 4 that make 88,000 a year get medicaid. This is stupid.

Yeah she is. I’m finding out a lot of things that I was unaware of.

Should have planned a live thread for this one.

Just a picture I found while looking into one of my senator's past.

Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) speaks during a Congressional rally held by ACORN on the foreclosure crisis in Washington March 11, 2008.

He’s one freaky looking dude. When they showed a picture of him when he was in his twenties, his head looked like a freaking acorn.

Yes, a live thread would have been a good idea.

What’s amazing to me is that such an obviously subversive group could have gained such power. How did this happen?

Reagan recognized the threat when he was Governor of California. He may not have had their name but he had their number.
