Dems target DeMint's Honduras trip
Politico ^ | October 2, 2009 | CAROL E. LEE

Posted on 10/02/2009 3:00:19 PM PDT by don-o

Six House members on Friday sent a letter to the president of the Honduran Congress warning that the Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) and his travel delegation to Honduras do not represent the views of the White House or Congress, but are mere members of the “minority party.”

“We understand that you received visitors from our Congress who represent the minority party, the Republican Party, who have expressed views that differ markedly from those of President Obama’s administration and the Democratic Majority in the U.S. Congress,” they wrote.

DeMint’s trip to Honduras to support the backers of the government coup has drawn fire from Democrats, most notably Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry, who tried to block his mission this week. The trip was then approved by Senate GOP leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

The Obama administration considers the military’s ousting of President Manuel Zelaya in June unconstitutional and has supported his return to power. DeMint has been critical of Zelaya and supports the current government’s plans to hold elections next month.

Underlining the word “one,” the letter states, “The United States government has one position.”

“We know full well the weight of your task in this fast-moving scenario, as your Constitutional responsibilities are very similar to ours,” they wrote. “We thought it important that you be aware of our views on these critical issues since you are the authors of the laws that govern your country and guardians of the rule of law in Honduras. Count on us to assist in any way we can.”

“We know full well the weight of your task in this fast-moving scenario,

It's not a "scenario", dumbunny. It's a situation. Scenarios are hypothetical. Who wrote this letter?

(Yeah, I know it's lame to nitpick grammer or whatever, but these people claim to be the smartest on planet Earth.)

to support the backers of the government coup

There was no coup. The military acted upon orders from the judiciary to put a stop to unconstitutional actions.

Did the GOP Congressmen trash the United States while they were out of the country representing the “minority party” or is that something only Democrats like to do?

“The United States government has one position.”

“The United States government has one corrupt and incorrect administrative position.”

Fixed.

John Kerry and many other democrats have a long history of being on the side of communists in South America and elsewhere....like Vietnam. It’s SOP for them...as you probably know already.

I see Carol of Politboro.com is a good little comrade.

Repeat a lie long enough, and the public will believe it, eh Carol?

More Politboro.com spew.

I recommend not giving them any hits to their website.
