EXCLUSIVE: Cantor: Obama's not met with GOP leaders since May

President Obama has cut off communication with Republican leaders, going more than four months without hosting the bipartisan congressional leadership at the White House to discuss his health care proposal, the No. 2 Republican in the House said Wednesday.

Minority Whip Eric Cantor, Virginia Republican, told The Washington Times that health care reform has been an "utter disaster" for Mr. Obama and predicted if he pushes through a public option as part of a final bill, Republicans will win back at least one chamber of Congress in the 2010 elections.

Mr. Cantor said Mr. Obama initially asked for Republican help on health care, but Republicans have heard nothing since they offered their ideas.

"No matter what the cry is from the White House, no matter what the president claims, they have not engaged with us," he said.

"The White House at this point has shut down, as far as any kind of engagement. I think that the last time that we as a Republican leadership were at the White House was in May, and that's when they called us in at the beginning of the health care discussion so that they could get our ideas," Mr. Cantor said. "The president enlisted us and said we want your ideas. [Minority Leader John A.] Boehner and I sent a letter to the White House in response to that request. Nothing."

What good is it to have, both, conservatives and the GOP win back Congress in ‘10 and beyond, if non-leftists really can’t undo all of the leftist legislature that’s already in place from FDR’s days as POTUS through and beyond Obama’s days as POTUS?

That’s great news!

I don’t WANT to see republicans talking to Bambi.

I want to see them smack the crap out of him (politically speaking) until he’s so punch-drunk he can’t see straight.

And then smack him around some more.

I want that marxist boy kept so confused he hasn’t any idea which direction is up.

Exactly. I think the Northeast-West Coast Donkey cabal would rather pass Obamacare, Cap-and-Tax, etc and lose Congress than not pass it at all. They know from history once this stuff passes it is impossible to elminate because they gain a powerful constitutncy who will fight for it tooth and nail.

So, he is willing to meet with leaders of despotic countries that have sworn themselves to our destruction but he won’t meet with the Republicans. That says a lot.

...if he pushes through a public option...”

It’s not about the PUBLIC OPTION. That doesn’t really matter. If they get half of what they want, it’s all one big public option.

It’s about the federal government mandating that an individual must buy health insurance. It’s about the federal government mandating the coverages, co-pays, max out-of-pocket, and insurability requirements of that coverage. It’s about the federal government forcing the middle class to pay for the poor.

They may think whatever passes will be put into law, but I think the paradigm on that has happened. The Left is the proverbial Dead Man Walking, in my estimation!

Yes and no - none of these bills will take effect until 2013. While one congress can set up a plan/program, it is the perogative of the succeeding congresses to fund them. Since there will be no receiving (paid) constituency created by 2010 for either program (healthcare or capntax), it is quite possible to unfund it. Worse case we have a standoff between PRES/SEN and Congress. Should make for fun watching. The only one that wins in Capntax not healthcare. Capntax does not require funding from congress to implement. It is conceiveable that a succeeding Congress can and will except certain industries from capntax, resulting in industries in the true believer areas strapped with higher costs than there competitors. As long as there are lobbiests, there will be loopholes. Look for a regional civil war of litigation to commence. Blue states fighting for higher reg/taxes, red states for lower reg/taxes. Should be fun since there are a lot of blue states that economically share common ground with red states. Not everybody lives in a blue state urban hell hole requiring community organizing.

Nice thought but it’s not going to happen with the current crop of R’s in office. Not a one of them has a backbone to stand up to the Obama machine. Standing up requires guts and sticking to your principles. Boehner and Cantor don’t qualify - - and Cantor is my congresscritter.

Exactly and Don’t be deceived!!! This is like Health care like gun control is about guns......it’s all about CONTROL!! The federal govt. wants to FORCE American citizens to buy something....this has never happened before that I can think of. If they can force us into buying insurance or anything else - no matter from whom - they rule us. This is all bogus and unconstitutional. I wish someone had the stones to point it out and arrest these bozos.

It's simple, really. Khaddafi-duck, Ahma-madman and the others who want to kill us aren't racist. Republicans who disagree with the almighty TOTUS are racists.
