First, I'm not sure this is true, but there is this story brewing out there that these (possibly three) Navy ships were quarantined AFTER getting the swine flu shot and that a Captain & Chief Petty Officer died from the shot itself. I sure hope it is not true for thier sakes ..

this result is what I’ve come across in conspiracy theories. the shot is worse than the disease itself.
Because maybe a freeper might have information on this. I did a search and didn’t see the story, if folks are breaking out with the virus AFTER the shot and dying AFTER the shot, folks might want to know that, it has happened before you know, and under these very same conditions ...

FYI - my son had swine flu a few weeks ago. He felt
really bad for 2 or 3 days then had a lingering cough
for a week or so. Sounds like the bad cold I had
last winter.

I suspect if the rumor were true, we'd be seeing congressmen waving constituent letters by now.
Where my job is (and don’t ask) I would have heard about this if it were true. I haven’t heard about it.
The three ships in question would be Phibron 5; the Boxer, the New Orleans, and the Comstock. All the commanding officers seem to be alive and kicking.

I know that there are a number of people who believe that there is a vaccine conspiracy. Or even worse, for some reason, want the vaccine to be proven dangerous. I spoke with one of our infectious diseas doctors about this vaccine Friday. It appears that the swine flu vaccine is testing better than expected during trials. It is more effective than they previously predicted and they are not seeing significant numbers of poor outcomes.

I went through a similar event around the same time. I was still on active duty and ready for a month of leave. Before I could go I had to have all my immunizations updated. Swine Flu and several others. Instead of going on leave I spent 3-1/2 weeks in an intensive care ward with bubonic plague. The plague vaccine was supposed to be dead or weakened, the swine flu vaccine set me up for contracting anything of opportunity.
I always get the seasonal flu shot, but NO way will I take the vaccine for H1N1.
There is no way on this earth that I will EVER take another government produced, government sponsored, government disbursed innoculation, PERIOD. These people are out to kill you.
The flu shots that the Navy required always made me sick for a day or three. I managed to skip flu shots the last two years active duty and haven’t had flu since. Thirty years without flu shots or flu.
Folks, I did a search on this at random yesterday on Google, and every single one that I followed, all led back to the the same audio recording of a third hand account of someone who knows someone who knows what happened.
I would just let this sit and wait. There are a lot of people who have a horse in this race. Some people are against immunizations of all kinds, some have a deep seated conviction that the government uses military personnel as guinea pigs, some are upset about the government hyping H1N1, and so on.
Whether these factors are valid or not, they are there, and there isn’t any proof. Conspiracies on a scale involving two aircraft carriers and hundreds of men including a commanding officer are difficult to keep secret.
As someone who grew up in a military family and spent time in myself, the rumor mills in the military community are powerful and easily ramped up at all levels, from the family to the personnel.
So I would give it time. Just my two cents...
