EDITORIAL: Reid blocks ACORN probe

Tracking abuse by political allies could be 'distracting'

ACORN -- the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now -- is stinking up Washington.

-snip

ACORN receives and spends taxpayer money -- lots of it -- and had carried the imprimatur of official partnerships with the IRS, the Census Bureau ... the kind of "cred" that in the political world comes only from "who you know."

Yes, ACORN has friends in high places -- friends who are still stonewalling attempts to trace where all that tax money went ... perhaps because they know who still has cookie crumbs all over their hands.

-snip

Here in Clark County, Registrar of Voters Larry Lomax said last year he saw "rampant fraud in the 2,000 to 3,000 registrations ACORN turns in every week," with some 48 percent of those forms being "clearly fraudulent."

The Las Vegas headquarters of ACORN, "a Democrat-allied organization," was raided after being "accused of submitting multiple voter registrations with duplicate and false names," the Washington Times reported last fall. The outfit claimed it had registered to vote in Nevada, among others, the starting lineup of the Dallas Cowboys.

The raid "set off a skirmish over efforts to expand the electorate on behalf of Sen. Barack Obama," the Times reported.

Mr. Lomax noted ACORN had hired 59 inmates from a work-release program at a nearby prison and that some inmates who had been convicted of identity theft had been made supervisors. "That led some local wags to joke that at least ACORN was hiring specialists to do their work," reported John Fund at The Politico, last November.

ACORN's 2008 Las Vegas field director, Christopher Edwards, pleaded guilty last spring to two gross misdemeanor counts of conspiracy to commit compensation for registration...

I have to hand it to the editors of the Review Journal. They are taking on Reid in a righteous fashion.

The Las Vegas Review Journal consistently features honest and clear thinking editorials. Harry Reid hates the RJ. A few weeks ago he said that he hopes the paper goes out of business.

Someone tonight posted a link to CNN's interactive map shwoing unemployment for all 57 states. You could change the month and it when back 5 or 6 years. Bush years were about 4.7 to 6.4% for the country. I was curious to see in the most recent month which was Aug 2009. Michigan was #1 with 15.2%. I was suprised that Nevada was number #2 at 13.1 or 13.2%. I guess the papers and public are waking up in NV.

C'mon give old man Harry a break!!

They DID set him up to win his seat in the elections (UNFAIR & SQUARE = THE ACORN WAY) and who cares if 183,000 dead, incarcerated & fictitious people voted for him to carry him over the top?

All that really matters (to quote our beloved leader 0Bama) is that "HE WON" and nothing else matters, so get over it. Harry is honor bound to protect his job and the people who put him there - no, not the citizens voters but ACORN.

/sarcasm off!!

My prayer now will be that this little dirty HARRY will suddenly have bladder problems when the ACORN TREE collapse soon and the FEDS come and haul his ass away to jail for massive corruptions and take 0Bama and a whole lot of Democrats with him!!

I was suprised that Nevada was number #2 at 13.1 or 13.2%.

The President Of The United States told everyone not to go there, and their only industry is tourism.

“Reid is TOAST and then another 480-500 need to be TOAST as well.”

We need to avoid the trap that Democrats have offered - that trap being: “Throw out all incumbents.”

The Dems are the ones who are stinking up the joint. If Republicans get on this bandwagon to throw out the incumbents, the result will lessen the effects of Democrat losses.

We need to get rid of the Democrat scum plus a few Republican scum but we don’t need to throw out all of the incumbents, that will give the Democratz a free pass.

The Senate look into ACORN and voters might start to think the 2008 election was stolen.

Follow the money...Congress gives ACORN $50 billion in stimulus....ACORN in turn uses most of it to donate to friendly politicians...Congress gets YOUR TAX dollars to get themselves reelected....Repeat this with the SEIU...You won’t donate to these so-called representatives, they will
TAKE your tax dollars anyway.

Of course it’s fraud. They can’t get people to vote to shackle themselves voluntarily.

IMO, Republicans better get real vocal publicly. They have no choice at this point but to tell the nasty truth and explain, in detail, their lack of spine and gonads to the American people. The seething anger amongst “We The People” will demand all these traitors thrown out. If they don’t make their case to We The People, they will be thrown out with the rest of the political feces sitting in every level of government. As the economy and job markets worsen, that rage will gather intensity. Count on it. Everyone I talk to has nothing but loathing for these crooks and traitors.

Neuter them in 2010
Throw the rest out in 2012
