Hollywood cares more about its stars than the Defense Department about its own. One can go online and find every Academy Award winner on its database. Not only does the Defense Department not have a comprehensive or complete database of all those awarded medals of valor but the Defense Department is opposed to proposed legislation to create one. Whats wrong with an Honor Roll for those we have honored?

Some medal holders might not want their names called out in public.
I don’t believe that many vets would want to be recognized like that.
The need for public recognition is not why most did what they did. True heroes are not attention seekers.
Besides, hollywierd is such a narcissistic place anyway. The stars or their advocates have to pay something like $15k to get their “star” on the walk of fame.
Just my thoughts.

Hollywood if full of a bunch of narcissists who need constant reaffirmation of how special they are. Military heroes are generally satisfied in the knowledge of their accomplishments and don’t need to shout them to the world.
As a vet with a valor award I would rather they use the money for the active duty troops. This would be a waste of money and bandwidth although not as much as the Hollywood one.
