Former Secretary of State is keynote speaker at Convention Center security conference.
ANAHEIM Former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Wednesday that the United States must remain vigilant in the fight in Afghanistan and help calm the drug battles along the Mexican border to help prevent the type of failed states that lead to more terrorism.
Rice delivered the keynote address to a crowd of more than 2,500 police and security professionals gathered in Anaheim for the 55th annual American Society for Industrial Security International Seminar, billed as the largest security expo in the world.
"Nothing has ever been the same since 9-11," she said.
Unless the U.S. leads the charge to stabilize Afghanistan and other volatile regions, "you can be assured you'll have (terrorist) attacks from there again," Rice said. "This is a long war, not a short one."
She emphasized that unpopular decisions may need to be made in order to bring about lasting peace.
"If you govern for today's headlines, you will not have history's judgment on your side," she said.

And she credited President George H.W. Bush, for whom she served as a Soviet expert on the National Security Council, as a mentor. He taught her to "think about power wisely and with humility," she said.
Rice also urged everyday Americans to continue believing in the "national myth" that America is a place where any dream can be accomplished, to educate themselves and work toward achieving those dreams.
"We are admired for our national myth," Rice said. "A myth is not untrue, it's just oversized … And our national myth is the log-cabin myth, that it doesn't matter where you came from, it's where you are going.
Er, just how exactly does she propose to get those bad guys down there to calm down?

I’d like to see her face Obama on stage in a debate about foreign policy. She’d run rings around him. Of course, she knows foreign policy and he knows street thuggery, money laundering, and conman politicking.
Asked what she is most proud of, she said: “I am most grateful – not most proud – that there was not another attack under our watch. And that we were able to defend this country in a way that allowed people to go back to their lives after 9-11.”
Rice told the police officers and security professionals gathered at the conference that they are vital to maintaining safety every day at a local level.
While the government can worry about securing ocean ports and fighting the Taliban, she said, they are the people looking out for backpacks filled with explosive or suspicious cyber activity, making them “essential to the overall war on terror.”

Grand jury indicts 9 in fatal Medford gang brawl; no murder charges
MEDFORD, Ore. — A grand jury today indicted several young men in a large and fatal brawl in central Medford that police say was gang-related.
On Sept. 18, Medford police arrested and lodged Guibran Ramirez, 19, for first-degree assault in assaulting Marco Diaz, however not for causing his death. Police said Ramirez used his hands and feet to cause serious physical injury to Marco Diaz.
No one has been charged with Diaz’ murder.
On the same day, Medford police added charges to Sergio Meza, 18, for two counts of first-degree assault. The investigation revealed that Meza stabbed Lucas Molina, 18, and Ramirez mentioned above.
The grand jury indicted Ramirez on first-, second- and third-degree assault. All the charges area related to the assault on Marco Diaz. Ramirez’s bail is set at $500,000.
Sergio Meza was indicted for first- and second-degree assault. His bail is set at $550,000.
The grand jury indicted the following subjects for riot, disorderly conduct and second-degree criminal mischief:
* Meza, Sergio, 18
* Banuelos, Jose Salvador, 20
* A 14-year-old juvenile
* Quinonez-Aispuro, Omar, 24
* Cazares, Filiberto, 18
* Rodriguez, Ramon Guadelupe, 20
* Quinonez- Aispuro, Zenaido, 20

The government admits there are 230 cities being run by Mexican drug cartels...they OWN the forests and public lands and are running patrols guarding ‘their’ territory!
Actually Mexico has passed the Islamic countries in beheadings and kidnappings and murder of journalists. The spillover has made Phoenix, AZ the second kidnapping capital of the WORLD..second only to Mexico. And they kill more of us in a year than ‘Islamists’ have in total.

The United States of America spent over forty years defending itself against a terrible foe. That foe was the Soviet Union.
The United States built 70,000 nuclear weapons of 65 different types to protect ourselves from a Soviet army of two million men. That two million man army was composed of Christians (the govenment leaders were definately not Christian) who were responsible for fine art, fine music, the first man in space and rockets to the moon.
What makes up an army? An army is made of men between the age of 15 and 35.
What comes across our border by the millions each year? Men between the ages of 15 and 35.
Afghan drug lords are now teamed with Mexican drug cartels to flood our cities with heroin. In Mexico, this Muslim Connnection to the drug cartels has brought beheadings to the streets of border towns. Many Mexican cities are now surrounded by Mexican Army troops and tanks — all to quel the violence. The city of Tijuana had its entire 3,000 man police force disarmed and replaced with Mexican Federal Troops.
What we have below are two images. One is of an enemy we fought tooth and claw for seventy years nearly bankrupting our country. The other we today invite across our border with welfare, free medical care, and more. The centers of many American cities are now controlled by MS-13 and others of the most violent gangs in America’s entire history. These gangs want to kill police and federal agents to rise in reputation among their own kind. Our prisons are now filled with a violent criminal class never seen before anywhere on earth.
In all of the 70 years of the Soviet Union — including the years of the proxy war of Vietnam.— they killed fewer Americans in total than Mexican Illegal Aliens do inside this country in a single year.
