2010 Missouri Senate: Blunt 46%, Carnahan 46%
Rasmussen Reports ^ | September 23, 2009

Democrat Robin Carnahan and Republican Roy Blunt are dead even in the first Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 survey of the hotly contested race for the U.S. Senate in Missouri.

Both candidates capture 46% of the vote in a new telephone survey of Missouri voters. Two percent (2%) favor some other candidate, and five percent (5%) are not sure which candidate they will vote for.

Blunt, a member of Congress since 1997, has held the number two GOP position in the House, serving as minority whip. His son was governor of Missouri from 2005 to 2009. Carnahan, currently Missouri’s secretary of state, is the daughter of an ex-senator and a former governor. The seat they are contesting for is being vacated by retiring Republican Senator Kit Bond.

In a time that we need reform, career politician Roy Blunt is the wrong choice. He may win on the basis of political climate, but I expect that he’d be a mediocre Senator.

Not a hopeful sign for taking back the senate. We need fresh faces besides.

Who will crank out the phony votes for Carnahan in St. Louis, now that ACORN is under surveillance by the wicked Right?

These optimistic poll results usually do not hold up once the democrats get the votes counted from all their people who vote multiple times, the dead people who reliably vote democrat, the imaginary people who turn out in large numbers for democrats, and fraudulent ballots they submit for registered voters who do not actually vote in that election.

From what I’m hearing (from friends and family) it’s more of an attitude of “vote the bums out”...whether they be Republican or Democrat. The incumbent may be the underdog in most elections, as opposed to having the upper hand in the past.

"Not a hopeful sign for taking back the senate. We need fresh faces besides."

We're only 9 months into this Obama thing, and the wheels have already come off. Just think how much further he can fall in 12 more months, taking many Dems with him.

Having said that, it's just isn't a good year for the GOP with respect to next year's Senate elections and their respective geography or incumbency. I've said numerous times that the GOP could theoretically do very well in the House and actually lose a seat, or just keep the status quo in the Senate. It's just one of those weird years - lots of states that have trended blue have opening, and there are too many retiring GOP Senators - 5 or 6 I think

Roy Blunt’s son, Matt, wasn’t a popular governor. Jay Nixon, MO’s current governor, blames all of MO’s problems on Bush & Blunt.

I surprised Roy Blunt is doing better than expected. But then again, MO Senate races are close.

If what you say is true, he should retire and let someone with a fresh head and voice run against socialism.

You’re correct, but with his son as an unpopular retired Governor, this may be the Blunt dynasty’s only chance at winning a U.S. Senate race.

My choice was ex-Senator Jim Talent, who is aptly named, but he deferred to Blunt.

I couldn't agree more. Count me in the 2% who wants someone else! I chewed out the MOGOP when they called me for money because they are backing this jerk.
