I think these are IG's, which are independent of the DOJ right?

Not that this makes me any more confident, since O can now disregard the law and fire any of them without cause (IG Walpin). The message was sent to IG's months ago about what will happen if they are "too independent".

The Justice Department will be on the golf course, looking for the real killers.

Obama’s man investigating Obama’s own ACORN.
This is just plain nuts.

"The Justice Department's inspector general has agreed to investigate whether ACORN has applied for or received any DOJ grant money"

What the hell would the DOJ be giving ACORN or any other organization like them money for in the first place??

I think he's actually investigating the DOJ. Not that this will probably amount to much. I think it's kind of like "Internal Affairs" within a police department which investigates officers' misconduct.

We can always pray that there's ONE honest person who will really investigate.

That's what I'm going to do.

"I think these are IG's, which are independent of the DOJ right?"

IGs in the executive branch work directly for, and report directly to, the Agency or Department Head. The Army IG works directly for the Secretary of the Army. The DOD IG works directly for the SecDef. The Justice Department IG reports directly to the Attorney General.

They are ONLY looking into whether DOJ gave ACORN any grant money. They already know they haven’t so this is just a shameful attempt to manipulate the compliany MSM into reporting ‘Dept of Justice investigation of ACORN finds no wrong doing’ This would be factually correct, because the scope of the investigation is so limited, but the impression John Q Public will get is that ACORN was TOTALLY cleared by DOJ

What do we know about the Inspector General??? Most likely a DEMOCRAT so I don’t expect anything to happen to ACORN.

Sure they will. They’ll find that Acorn was cheated out of $30 billion which must be borrowed from the Chinese & given to them immediately.

Got it. Thanks for the answer. So he reports to Holder and Congress, and is really unable to investigate Holder or the top lawyers at the DOJ.

I found something about this (considered a "loophole") at this blog from 2007.

Unlike all other OIGs throughout the federal government who can investigate misconduct within their entire agencies, the DOJ OIG does not have complete jurisdiction throughout the DOJ. Rather, the DOJ OIG can investigate misconduct throughout DOJ with one notable exception: the OIG does not have the authority to investigate allegations against DOJ attorneys acting in their capacity as lawyers – litigating, investigating, and providing legal advice – including such allegations against the Attorney General, Deputy Attorney General, and other senior Department lawyers. Instead, the DOJ Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) has been assigned jurisdiction to investigate such allegations.
