“Nearly all children nowadays were horrible. What was worst of all was that by means of such organizations as the Spies they were systematically turned into ungovernable little savages, and yet this produced in them no tendency whatever to rebel against the discipline of the Party. On the contrary, they adored the Party and everything connected with it... All their ferocity was turned outwards, against the enemies of the State, against foreigners, traitors, saboteurs, thought-criminals. It was almost normal for people over thirty to be frightened of their own children.”
- George Orwell, 1984, Book 1, Chapter 2

“Nicholas Shapiro, a White House spokesman, declined to say when the practice began or how much the new contract would cost.”
Such gall. I wonder if any conservative leaders will have the temerity to speak out on such matters? Glen Beck is the last man standing.

At least the White House’s motives are transparent.

This should be challenged in court. The U.S. Supreme Court would strike this one down.

The data is compiled and analyzed to figure out how people react to certain speeches, methods of deliveries, word choices, etc. The personal data being collected is for the demographic analysis so they can assign race, wealth and geographical values to the data.
All that information is then used to craft better lies. There really is no other reason for it.

In a June 5, 2008, article in PC Magazine, Mr. Obama said, "The open information platforms of the 21st century can also tempt institutions to violate the privacy of citizens. We need sensible safeguards that protect privacy in this dynamic new world.""You lie!"

Anybody who thought it wouldn’t come to this is naive. And you can bet your bippy that THIS site is watched, copied and pasted or whatever means necessary, is being done.
I don’t subscribe to social networking sites for this very reason.
Bottom line, I’m prepared if the doo-doo hits the fan and ‘the list’ goes out to the minions to reign in dissenters.

The White House is collecting and storing comments and videos placed on its social-networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube without notifying or asking the consent of the site users,...ITS??? Facebook does not belong to the White House. Twitter does not belong to the White House. YouTube does not belong to the White House. How can the article claim possession when none exists?
This spying on the general public is expected - after all, how can Obama keep track of the millions that don't trust him if he doesn't track them?
