Thomas Sowell: Obama shamelessly deceives on cost of health reform
Omaha World Herald (Omaha.com) ^ | 12 September 2009 | Thomas Sowell

“Hubris-laden charlatans” was the way a recent e-mail from a reader characterized the Obama administration. That phrase seems especially appropriate for the charlatan in chief, Barack Obama, whose speech to a joint session of Congress was both a masterpiece of rhetoric and a shameless fraud.

To tell us, with a straight face, that he can insure millions more people without adding to the already skyrocketing deficit is world-class chutzpa and an insult to anyone’s intelligence.

To do so after an analysis by the Congressional Budget Office has already showed this to be impossible reveals the depths of moral bankruptcy behind the glittering words.

Did we really need CBO experts to tell us that there is no free lunch? Some people probably did....(snip)

“You lie!” Joe Wilson summarized BO’s entire speech in two truthful words.

Common sense from a most uncommon intellect.

I don’t believe the “The long Legged Mack Daddy the Zebra” has ever had a word of truth cross his lips.

"...those who can believe that Obama can conjure up the money through eliminating "waste, fraud and abuse" should ask themselves where he is going to conjure up the additional doctors, nurses, and hospitals needed to take care of millions more patients..." ~ Thomas Sowell

The good professor does not mince words. His comments on Obama’s performance have become increasingly pointed.

Need more? Still think he is a good man?

You need to stop responding to the voices in your head and respond something I’ve actually said. Otherwise, address your posts to the voices in your head.

Show me where I ever said Obama was a good man!

And, the Obama actions during the speech to school kids episode shows once again what I’ve said: that they believe what they are doing will work and do not realize what reaction it will bring. They put their plans out there, including their Obama worship lesson plan and had no clue how people would respond. Then, after the response came, they backed off the lesson plan, and probably changed his speech from what was originally planned.

And Thomas Sowell is not the final authority on anything. Obama can be both morally depraved and profoundly ignorant and clueless. Those are not mutually exclusive.

More and more pundits (Beck and Limbaugh, so far) are hinting that Obama not only intends upon seizing absolute power in America... and soon, but that the mechanisms with which this is to be done are in place, and the first steps of implementation of some grand plan are now being carried out. Will Thomas Sowell join them? Of course, this will all seem like the ultimate in lunacy, to the leftist press and complacent moderates in our midst, but even they are expressing unease at the shatteringly un-democratic and un-American look of the “Czaracracy” Obama has rapidly put into power. Today, 2 million may have marched in Washington, against his acquisition of so much power, in such a corrupt and totalitarian form. Where are we going? I shudder to think... about the potential for CWII.

Thanks for the link. It is, as you say, an article that is relevant to our disagreement.

I would prefer Dr. Thomas Sowell’s judgement anytime over that of Bob Herbert.

The reason for my opinion that Obama knows exactly what he is doing and intends to destroy this country in order to control it and rebuild it in his own image (By this I don’t mean he intends to physically destroy the means of production or the infrastructure.) is the totality of lies and deceptions he has used all his life. Those have been posted often on FR and that is part of Communism’s MO.

He employs ACORN and their myriad associated groups to perpetrate election fraud. He got started as one of their Community Organizers so there is no doubt he knows what they are doing. He taught them how.

Do you think he wants to keep and protect our election system or destroy it to assure his perpetual control? Will the destruction of our free election system destroy this country as we know it and as it has been for over 200 years?

What about the transparency he promised before ramrodding his “Stimulus” package through Congress in short order? Did that plan stimulate anything? Did he expect it to? It was simply a way for his Democrat cronies to get all their pet pork barrel earmarks through.

If he thinks he is doing what is best for the country why does he continually lie about the purpose and the results of all he does?

Do you think true Communists actually think Communism provides what it promises even if it has never succeeded anywhere? Those who did were called Useful Idiots by Lenin.

If you are doing what you think is best for the country there is no need to lie about almost everything. However, if you seek destruction of the existing order in order to gain and keep control then lying makes perfect sense.
