First on TVNewser: John Stossel, the longtime ABC News correspondent and co-anchor of "20/20," is leaving ABC to join Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network. TVNewser has learned Stossel will host a weekly, one-hour program for the 2-year-old business channel. He's expected to signed a multi-year deal with Fox which will include regular appearances on Fox News Channel during daytime and primetime. He'll also host four, hour-long specials on Fox News, much like the business/consumer specials he'd hosted for years on ABC.
Stossel, a libertarian, has been appearing on Fox News for years as a guest on shows including "The O'Reilly Factor," "Hannity & Colmes" and "The Big Story."
Stossel joined "20/20" in 1981 and was upped to co-anchor in 2003. TVNewser has learned there was a window in Stossel's ABC contract which allowed him to jump to Fox.
Stossel's departure from ABC means there will soon be another anchor vacancy at the network. Last week, Charlie Gibson announced his retirement paving the way for Diane Sawyer to take over on "World News" beginning in January. "20/20's" other co-anchor Elizabeth Vargas, is one of the top names being mentioned for the GMA slot.

Great news—Stossel was about the only reason I would ever turn to ABC. Now I won’t have to :)
Welcome to the real world of journalistic fact, John. We’re glad to have you aboard.
Very, very good news. Stossel is a Fox News Natural. Big plus for our side.
Me too. John probably got fed up with the “please dont insult Obama like that” lectures from the Dem tools at ABC.
I don’t think this is great news, we need to have more voices for our side outside of Fox News, instead of concentrating them all in one place.
So now every non-lefty person in media is going to be pushed to Fox, where they can easily be discredited and diminished? Wonderful.
EXCELLENT!
some more good news
Stossel should be OK......certainly a cut above Whoreraldo.
Wonderful news. This will clear the way for ABC’s well earned death.
I don’t like Stossel. He doesn’t belong at FOX.
” Stossel’s departure from ABC means there will soon be another anchor vacancy at the network. Last week, Charlie Gibson announced his retirement “
rats and sinking ships....
The cycle has run its course with Bloviating Bill. He's has sold out to his ego to the point that he's a fraction as helpful as he once was.
Let him chase ratings from a less ideal time slot.
Stossel is a treasure. ABC is foolish for letting him go.
Maybe Fox is going to move Beck into O’Reilly’s slot ( I hope) and put Stossel in Beck’s spot.
Excellent! And, I once rode a crosstown 57th St. bus in NYC with John Stossel...obviously, a man of the people. He actually got on the bus...and then got off, just like anyone else would...amazing!
Fire O’Reilly aka BOR(e) and give Glenn Beck his 8 pm slot.
Put Stossel or Lou Dobbs in Glenn’s 5 pm time slot.
Let me add here. Fox could then send O’Reilly to ABC
From the numbers, everyone seems to be watching FOX anyway.
What took him?

WOOOO HOOOO!!!
Excellent news
Outstanding!!!
Look for Lou Dobbs to arrive @ FOX as soon as his contract is up with CNN. I would give odds that he would leave this afternoon if it were possible. The Communist News Network will be without viewers as soon as he leaves.
Should say I see your point, but my hunch is that he was being censored by ABC. Maybe he will be able to do hard hitting stories he could not before...sort of like Beck, cause I highly doubt beck would have been able to do his Van Jones report on CNN.
Well it’s about time! I’ve wondered for awhile now when John would take that leap — he simply did not belong on ABC!!!
Great News!
Good news. I saw Herman Cain on Neil Cavuto last night. I would love to see him get his own show on either FoxNews or Fox Business. The guy is smart and he makes sense when you listen to him.
Maybe, but my view still is that people on Fox basically “preach to the choir.”
Stossel is the one who did that report a few years ago showing that conservatives were more generous than liberals.
” Fire OReilly aka BOR(e) and give Glenn Beck his 8 pm slot. “
I hope not — one of the ‘gratefuls’ I have is that I’m not able to watch TV during Oreilly’s time slot, so I’m not even tempted to listen to the Great Ego....
I’d hate to have to lose my ability to listen to Beck.....
What’s the chance we could trade Jerry Rivers and Alan Combs for Stossel and one other player to be named later...
Just sayin ;)
Just his report on how the NEA has destroyed our school system and how far our kids are behind the rest of the world makes him a hero in our book.
Look at the article, he's going to do pretty much as he has done on ABC, a weekly one-hour, time/spots on the other opinion shows and several special pieces. He's not really a five-nights-a-week kind of investigator/journalist, his stuff needs a good bit of off-air time to put it together properly.
I wondered what took so long. Birds of a feather flock together, kinda like Obama and his Chicago friends.
btt
In a more perfect world maybe. For an example given today's reality look at Beck before Fox versus where he is now.
Maybe Fox can give Whoraldo to ABC.
I only caught him on Youtube. I loved him when I had TV (before 1997).
Naturally, it will still be only Youtube stuff though.
Ailes is a master of strategy.
I’ll bet that he has been frequently frustrated at ABC by not being allowed to many pursue stories he wanted to.
” Let me add here. Fox could then send OReilly to ABC “
No deal — ABC wanted Oreilly, Geraldo, six draft choices, and an undisclosed amount of cash for Stossel....
Which is why Fox had to wait until Stossel could go free-agent....
Well, MSNBC (PMS-NBC) has decided to to full-on lefty...are they discredited?
The leftward tilt in practically every other print/electronic outlet was taken for granted...were they discredited?
Just off hand - why?
especially that health care special. I think that was the turning point
