Disgraced Pakistani nuclear scientist A Q Khan has said his country was short of anti-aircraft missiles during the 1999 Kargil War, so General Pervez Musharraf sent him to North Korea to purchase 200 missiles.

In an interview to Pakistani Urdu TV channel Aaj News — its translation has been obtained by Secrecy News of the Federation of American Scientists — Khan said: “In 1999, Gen Musharraf sent me along with Gen Iftikhar, who was the then chief of Air Defence Command. We were fighting India at Kargil, and we were in dire need of anti-aircraft missiles. Musharraf said that we could purchase the missiles from North Korea. We went to North Korea and purchased 200 missiles from them.”

Khan claimed Pakistan was ready to test a nuclear bomb as early as 1984 since the US overlooked its clandestine programme due to Islamabad’s involvement in the

This wouldn’t surprise me in the least. It also wouldn’t surprise me if Khan did this on his own. He’s not the most reliable guy, from what I understand.

Musharraf was still a necessary evil. While he was not ay kind of ideal ruler (far from it), he restored order and was the best ally America could have had in Islamabad under the circumstances that prevailed at the time.

It’s called realpolitik, something the militant Hinduist pro-India lobby here in FR, which favors India’s interests over those of America, is apparently incapable of understanding.

You have to play the hand you’re dealty. India is certainly not our friend.

"It also wouldn’t surprise me if Khan did this on his own" LMAO - Khan is quoted here saying that Musharaff sent him and FR's resident jihadi claims otherwise. Too rich! Mullah Omar and Osama Bin Laden thank you for your contributions, TBP. For those who are unaware, Tim Barnes Phares is a paid lobbyist for Pakistani Islamists.

I would like to spend the day with this guy and how he managed to have his finger in every pie of both in the illegal arms trade and nuclear proliferation and the players.
