Absolutely. But I think it would be unlikely that she would lose to Rick Lazio, even under the current environment. IMHO, Lazio could beat Paterson, but unfortunately not Cuomo or Hillary.

If Hillary doesn’t run for Governor, another blast from the past could challenge Patterson in the priamry - Eliot Spitzer.

Survey USA ran polling data on a Spitzer comeback. Spitzer would beat Patterson easily, but lose to Cuomo. In the general, Spitzer would lose to Giuliani, but win against a generic republican.
