The superintendent of Catholic schools in our diocese released a letter saying that they will NOT be airing the speech tomorrow. They will be videotaping it and school officials will view it first to see if it has any instructional value. If they do decide to show it to the kids, it will only be with permission from the parents.

I’d pay a pretty penny to learn what was cut from this little wretcher once the outrage began.
*NOW* it’s a harmless speech to encourage kids to stay in school. Ahem. It didn’t get under the radar.
Does he really think that people don’t already tell their kids that school is important. If he does, we’re not the dumb ones—he is.
If he really thinks education is all that important, he’d ought to release his transcripts from college. *That* would be news to somebody.

It's one thing to encourage the kids to work hard, study and stay in school. It's quite another to ask them to pledge allegiance to him, the man, and his particular ideas. Do they still pledge allegiance to the flag at the start of the day?
