A Christian legal society is sending Barack Obama a message concerning his planned school address: "Mr. President, cease and desist."
Liberty Counsel founder Matt Staver tells OneNewsNow that the Department of Education [DOE] is engaging in illegal activity in the dispersing of educational material that will accompany President Obama's address to school children. He says it does not matter what Obama talks about because according to U.S. Code 20, Section 3403, the Secretary of Education, or any officer, is forbidden to engage in "any direction, supervision, or control over the curriculum, program of instruction, administration, or personnel of any educational institution, school, or school system."
"It's illegal because we don't want the President or the federal Department of Education to take over our schools. We don't want them creating curriculum, as the DOE is doing in this case. They're actually creating workbooks, they're setting aside time during the instructional portion of the school," he points out. "They're then beaming the President of the United States into all of these schools across the country. It is essentially a federal takeover of our state educational and locally run school systems."
Staver believes the scheduling of the speech is politically motivated because Obama is delivering the speech as Congress comes back in session and at a time when he is trying to refocus the debate on healthcare.

the draft is supposed to be on the whitehouse.org website tonight so that parents can see it before the speech Tuesday morning. Also another thing going on at the same time is the Orly Taitz case against The One in Kalifornia. Is he trying to pull attention away from that and put it into the classroom. My son’s school will not be broadcasting the speech, due to the fact that children our young and won’t understand, and they have had to many parents stating their kids will be out of school if the play it.

Did you alert Rush or Beck to this because the Dept. of Ed. should withdraw their handouts, not just "sanitize" them.

And exactly when did they make a national speech to ALL school children up to the 6th grade, and issue after speech “talking points” to the teachers?
It isn’t illegal, but it also isn’t illegal for the school boards to tell O to take a hike.
I agree, which is why we had to wait until today to read it. It takes time to edit a speech to remove socialist propaganda. Of course, the “class instructions” were available last week. The very first suggestion is that teachers urge students to learn about the president by “reading books about presidents AND BARACK OBAMA.”
So I took the advice, and ordered my granddaughter a book about Obama: “Culture of Corruption - Obama and his Team of Tax Cheats, Crooks and Cronies” by Michelle Malkin.
Please do not address Obama in that way.

The cat’s already out of the bag with the original workbooks with questions like ‘How can I help Obama?’ and ‘How does Obama inspire me?’ This wouldn’t be such a big issue if the Obama administration didn’t go beyond just a speech that could be discussed and debated to an Obama-worship session.
I know. It’s a common, sarcastic reference to our beloved Great Leader of a President around here. Try to keep up, now.
