LATimes Got The Finger Wrong
The American Thinker ^ | September 03, 2009 | Lee Cary

Posted on 09/04/2009 3:32:18 AM PDT by Scanian

Looks like the LATimes got the story of a clash between pro- and anti-Obamacare protesters totally backwards.

This was the lede in a September 3, 2009 LATimes blog (scroll down to find it under "Man bites off man's finger at Obama healthcare rally"):

"A 65-year-old man at a Wednesday night California rally supporting President Obama's embattled reform ideas had a finger bitten off during a scuffle with anti-reform protesters."

The democraticunderground.com website jumped on the piece and it provokes a series of comments. The first one was,

"1. Why are Right-Wings always ruled by Emotions and Never by Logic"

Well, turns out, according to Times reporter Rubin Vives who is now assigned to follow-up on the story, the paper got it backwards and a rewrite is in progress. (Mr. Vives was contacted by phone at approximately noon central time, September 3, at the Times' office.)

A pro-Obamacare protestor bit off the pinkie finger of the 65-year-old anti-Obamacare protestor.

The underlying question is: How does a big paper blogger - it wasn't Vives - make a mistake like that in the first place?

Inbred bias perhaps?

His logic was right, just backwards. Libtards are the ones ruled by emotions. None of their policies ever make any logical sense.

This from Wikipedia: The little finger, often called the pinky in American English and pinkie in Scottish English (from the Dutch word pink, meaning little finger), is the most ulnar and usually smallest finger of the human hand

It doesn't. Its the same tactic used by attorneys in jury trials every day. Say something they know is inadmissible knowing that what has been heard cannot be un heard.

I wonder when they will admit this error and then say, "We regret our error on whose finger was bit off and we would like to make an additional CORRECTION: Why are LEFT-Wings always ruled by Emotions and Never by Logic?"

Herb's rules of propaganda:

Say anything you want and make it public. No matter how outrageous or unbelievable it is.

Later, if flack arises, change it.

In the world of propaganda, the first statement will always be remembered by the majority.  The corrected statement will be remembered by few.

For example:

I tell little Johnny that a conservative man eating monster is hiding under his bed and will eat his feet off when he steps out of bed during the night, it will scare the hell out of him.  Later, if I tell little Johnny that I was only kidding and that there was really no monster, do you think he would completely erase the first statement from his mind?  Well, guess what?  Little Johnny will subconsciously thinking that maybe there is a chance that there really is a possibility of a monster under the bed.  After all, it could happen, couldn't it?

Once the first statement is said, the corrective statement can never erase it.  People without the ability to analyze or rationalize never hear the corrective statement.  Those people are called liberals and radicals.

What makes you think it was a mistake? My guess is it was deliberate and he got out the story he WANTED to be out there for the nut roots to read.

The correction or update will get little play with the moon bats who will continue to cut and paste the “mistake” for all to see.

From my studies,
it’s not a matter of libtards not reasoning logically,
it’s a matter of their starting assumptions being 180 degrees wrong.
