YUMA, AZ -- Steven Anderson, who ministers at Faithful Word Baptist Church, said he prays for the death of President Barack Obama in a sermon to his congregation.
"I'm not going to pray for his good," Anderson said in the sermon. "I'm going to pray he dies and goes to hell."
The sermon, which was titled "Why I Hate Barack Obama," was also featured on CNN last week due to the nature of its content, and has since been shown on other programs such as Fox News, MSNBC, ABC News and Headline News on Monday.

An audio of the sermon from the right-wing pastor is posted on the Faithful Word Baptist Church's Web site.
Yeah, Mr. Journalist, thanks for the LINK to that audio! D'oh. Let me do your job for you:
Faithful Word Baptist ChurchAugust 16th sermon
Interesting. Not EXTREME right wing, but you know, your general right wing Baptist preacher condoning and exhorting violence against the president. ::rolls eyes:: I can't listen to the sermon right this moment, but until I hear the audio, or see an actual video or or read an actual transcript of the actual sermon, I reserve judgment on whether or not this preacher is preaching hate against Obama. For all we know, he quoted the Bible and it's been taken waaaaaaay out of context! >:-(
Also love this little aside where they are trying to link two separate events in a most dire (cue the sinister organ music) way:
Chris Broughton, a 28-year-old Tempe resident who is one of Anderson's parishioners, showed up at an Obama town hall event with an assault rifle and a pistol.
Broughton, however, claimed that he was not planning on using the weapons but was simply exercising his right to bear arms.
All well and good! One can make the assumption that this WHITE preacher is telling his WHITE congregation to go out and KILL HolyO, because, you know, HolyO's a BLACK man in the White House and ALL conservatives are racist and hate HolyO for that simple reason (just ask that extreme left-wing political and sociological expert Janeane Garafalo!), so therefore HolyO must die!--and yet, the AP leaves out one interesting fact about this--Mr. Broughton is a
BLACK man who did nothing wrong and was only LEGALLY exercising his 2nd Amendment rights in the state of Arizona!
Chris Broughton speaks out
Glad to find out Chris's name instead of referring to him as "that black guy who threatened Obama by bringing mean, scary guns to a health care rally"--he's got a lot more common sense than the guy in the WH!
And don't forget to listen close to the last statement on the video, LOL! :-) It's true!

Personally I’d pray for a ‘conversion on the road to Damascus’ type experience for Obama. We are commanded to pray for and love our enemies, not to hate them. If this media report is not a flagrant lie, then this pastor seems to be seriously out line with Scripture.

I’m listening while I fold laundry, and so far, this preacher has quoted Bible scripture for these comments—he’s preaching against Obama’s extreme support for abortions of all kinds, and that little snippet has been cut out of the article—he refers to the saline solution used in botched abortions and compares that to slugs melting in the garden—he says he hopes that happens to Obama, then he references Bible verses proving God hates evil doers who have rejected His Word...can’t find any extreme GO KILL OBAMA NOW!!! references at all!
Just the MSM twisting and distorting true statements as usual...attacking Christians and conservatives, same old, same old.

Doctrinal statement:
1. We believe that the King James Bible is the word of God without error.
11. We believe that homosexuality is a sin and an abomination which God punishes with the death penalty.
I thought all sin separates us from God, and I don’t know if they are referring to the 1611 KJV, or the 1769 (?) correction that is published today...

"I'm not going to pray for his good," Anderson said in the sermon. "I'm going to pray he dies and goes to hell." Not biblical at all.
"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour. Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth." (I Timothy 2:1-4)
"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (II Peter 3:9)
No matter how much we dislike Obama, only a fool who has an insufficiently expansive understanding of hell would wish somebody to go there, especially since God has said that He wants people to repent instead.
This pastor needs to get his heart right with God.

The preacher clarifies at the beginning of his sermon that he is talking about people who have had opportunity after opportunity to accept God’s Way, yet they arrogantly refuse Him again and again—references to verses saying God will destroy those who refuse Him time and again.
I too would love a Damascus moment for Obama, but has he passed the point of no return, denying God one time too many?
I don’t know the answer to that.

I smell Media Watch all over this. The same Gestapo tactics used to monitor Rush, Hannity, Levin, Beck, and the rest, waiting and hoping for one slip of the tongue are also now sitting in the pews of Churches across America.
Even churches that most of us would consider very extreme, like the church in the story, or the church, whoever they are that are gathering at public events here in Washington with colorful signs with very provocative slogans. One I saw on a parade route recently said; “God will Kill you is you don't repent”. My jaw dropped as I marched past with a group of Scouts.

Did you actually LISTEN to the sermon?
Anderson bases his sermon on scriptures like these:
Hosea 9:15 All their wickedness is in Gilgal: for there I hated them: for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of mine house, I will love them no more: all their princes are revolters.
He goes into great detail saying yes, God loved Obama and offered him many opportunities to accept Him and His Way, but despite 20 years in Wright's church, Obama STILL voted to kill babies after botched abortions (his biggest crime according to Anderson)--listen to the sermon. I'm still listening and not a single red flag has gone up for me.

I've been attending Baptist churches since my childhood (35+ years) and Anderson is not preaching anything extreme--statements have been taken out of context for sure, all someone has to do is listen to the sermon itself to hear Anderson's intent.
He's NOWHERE in the range of extreme "Christians" like that lunatic Fred Phelps, etc. Anderson backs up almost EVERY statement he makes with a Bible scripture which applies to the statement. No hate speech, just a Christian conservative viewpoint--which we all know has a giant target on it's back that the liberals and lefties are constantly taking aim at!
I think that some good can actually come of this because hopefully people will LISTEN to the sermon and get a good message from the Holy Spirit! Anderson is definitely fired up with righteousness straight from the Bible.

This brother needs to seek the face of YHvH.
as Yah'shua said he is facing Hell fire. 21 "You have heard that the ancients were told, 'YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT MURDER '
and 'Whoever commits murder shall be liable to the court.'
22 "But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty
before the court; and whoever says to his brother, 'You good-for-nothing,'
shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever says, 'You fool,'
shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell.
It very well may be that Obama is being used by YHvH in His plan for the last days. NAsbU Psalm 118:9 It is better to take refuge in YHvH
Than to trust in princes.

Wright doesn't count. He's not a white man sporting a crew cut (the preferred haircut of white right wing gun toting militia extremists you know!) preaching against abortion! Besides, you know the universal rule: BLACKS CAN NOT BE RACIST SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY ARE BLACK, D'OH!
