First the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet cited freedom of the press as its justification for accusing IDF soldiers of harvesting Palestinian organs. Now the Spanish daily El Monde is using the same argument to defend including Holocaust denier David Irving among its list of experts to be interviewed this week to mark 70 years since the start of World War II.
An interview with Irving, who served time in an Austrian prison for his Holocaust denial, is scheduled to appear in the paper on Saturday, a day after an interview with Yad Vashem's chairman Avner Shalev.

In my lifetime, I’ve read more than my share of books about WWII. I never heard of this “expert.”
He was fairly well known back in the 60’s and 70’s before he went off piste. He wrote dozens of books, perhaps the most famous is Hitler’s War; The Destruction of Convoy PQ-17 is another famous one of his. Aside from his holocaust-denial baggage, he is also well known for being the first writer to expose the Hitler Diaries as a hoax back in the early 80’s. For better or worse, he was and is a player in the historiography of WW2, as the leading authors of that era reluctantly admit.
Had to read a book by him - he’s as much an expert on the Holocaust as Obama is qualified to be president .....
I am not a denier, but...
in addition to the six million Jews we always note...
what about the 10 to 12 other millions Hitler killed?
Or Stalin and God only knows?
20 million Russians were slaughtered by the Nazis.
Whatever else one might say about David Irving, it undeniable that he is an expert on WWII. He has studied it and written about it extensively. That is what an expert is.
If this is true, how can he deny the holocaust?
How can we add it up... six million Jews... 12 to 14 million others, gay, retarded or gypsy or anything else the nazis didn't like... now he got started on the russians.... now, deal.... then stalin killed 40 to 50 million russians...
One can be an expert in anything but so filled with hate that one will do and say the weirdest of things no matter what the context.
It is a tragedy for every one of those people and their families.
The principal difference, however, is that (i) Jews and Roma (Gypsies) were the only groups targeted for complete annihilation, and (ii) the percentages of people killed (90% of Polish Jews) make a huge difference in the chances for survival of those groups.
The same way Rosie O'Donnel thinks that Bush administration blew up the WTC on Sep 11. Some people believe what they want despite the facts.
Ironically, a quark is a single particle...
and nothing you said made a single bit of sense.
don’t go away in a huff
take a minute and a huff.
"Deny the holocaust" is a vague, loaded, and ultimately worthless phrase.
David Irving has his description of the holocaust, other people have theirs.
Look up the difference between "single" and "elementary."
"and nothing you said made a single bit of sense."
I doubt my words were so hopeless that you couldn't ask even clarifying questions. You either don't like the message or cannot read.
