Scarborough: Obama Admin Must Have Signed Off On Lockerbie Terrorist Release
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 08/31/2009 6:12:55 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

If Joe Scarborough is right, this could be a game-changing blow to Barack Obama . . .

On today's Morning Joe, Scarborough left no doubt that he believes the Obama administration acquiesed to the release by the British government of Abdelbaset Al Megrahi, the convicted Lockberbie murderer and terrorist.

Acquiesed??...I wouldn't be surprised if the Obama administration pressured the British government into releasing his friend (I mean the terrorist).

hmmmmm....I heard this morning that Chuck Schumer is calling for UN sanctions on the UK. So much for Obama bringing in a new era of international love for our country...LOL. Obama is pissing off our historical allies and appeasing our enemies at every foreign policy juncture.

Joe also said that “death panels” being in the bill was a bald-faced lie.

You have to ask yourself what political angle is Joe Scarborough going for on any given quote. His is a snake-oil salesman and a RINO turncoat.

(Not to put too fine a point on it...)

On what planet would this be a game-changing blow to Obama? Obama could have Osama bin Laden over for a beer, and sit, watch and smile as OBL cross examined CIA interrorgators, then drive his car off a bridge and leave his girlfriend behind to die as he went for ice cream, and his mediawhores would swooooooonn and marvel at his ability to multi-task.

Sadly, even if it emerges as completely proven, it’s not going to change anything in the mind of the American public. People already know he is terrorist-friendly and it doesn’t bother them.

Heck, he made his first televised address after inauguration to “the Muslim world” and not to Americans, and nobody outside of FR even batted an eyelash. Since then he has done nothing but release and protect terrorists, but still nobody cares.

Who will it be for the release of the Libyan terrorist??

Most people on the flight were Americans. It would be logical that the US be asked to concur in the release of the terrorist.

“You have to ask yourself what political angle is Joe Scarborough going for on any given quote. His is a snake-oil salesman and a RINO turncoat.”

Possible.

It’s also possible that Joe takes things issue by issue and makes his conclusion independently. I don’t have a problem with someone with a different point of view, as long as it’s genuine.

Of course he did. MacAskill said he notified the governments of the US and the UK in advance about the release. Obama chose to remain silent publicly, which was tacit approval for the release.

The easiest thing would be to get the mainstream media to spread the idea that maybe the guy wasn't really guilty, that he was a victim of the UK justice system and someone else really caused the plane to be blown out of the sky...not even a Libyan.

The parents of one of the Americans killed were on "Fox & Friends" this morning--they had attended the entire trial and were absolutely convinced of Maghrebi's guilt and that the Libyan government was deeply involved (it wasn't some freelance terrorist group). But it would be easy for the MSM to ignore voices like theirs.

Part of statement by Scottish Judge Kenny Macaskill below.
“I also spoke to the United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the United States Attorney General, Eric Holder. I met Minister al Obidi and his delegation from the Libyan Government to hear their reasons for applying for transfer, and to present to them the objections that had been raised to their application.
“I have noted and considered all the points presented, and also relevant written representations I received.”

If Obama can get away with releasing terrorists and providing them with waterfront estates in Bermuda, I doubt he is worried about approving the release of one more. It isn’t like MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, NYT, LAT etc. etc. are going to call him on it.

President Reagan was roundly criticized for launching a raid against Qaddafi in 1986. But the president said then “they can run, but they can’t hide.” He was determined to let those who attacked Americans know that we would pursue them to their lairs.

Once, when Libyan jets’ radar locked onto U.S. jets over international waters, Reagan left orders to shoot down any aircraft making aggressive moves against our forces. How far would we pursue Qaddafi’s jets once they’d attacked us, Reagan was asked. “Right into their hangars,” he replied.

I heard of some Bureau guys who went so deep into harm's way during the investigation, they thought they were never going to get back.

A lot of folks went far beyond the call of duty to present a prosecutable case.

If we later find out that this released Libyan was not a sick as reported, a bunch of goodwill is lost within the investigative community.

... Obama is pissing off our historical allies and appeasing our enemies at every foreign policy juncture.

The common thread in Obama's foreign policy is that he is cozying up to those countries that are SOCIALIST, and treating capitalist countries as pariahs. Honduras is the best example of this propensity on his part.
