What might life be like during the kind of major swine flu pandemic predicted by the White House to hit the U.S. this fall?

Conspiracy theorists go farther, suggesting that the World Health Organization is behind a secret plan to inoculate Americans at gunpoint with immune-system depleting vaccines to depopulate the globe.
The CDC's report, released Monday, may well create some level of hysteria. It said 1.8 million Americans could become seriously ill this fall and as many as 90,000 could die.
In truth, America's national pandemic response plan has been shaped by lessons from the 1918 Spanish flu epidemic, which killed millions globally and did include gun-point quarantines. If the circumstances are deemed dire enough, the government's "Pandemic Influenza Plan" allows for strong measures, such as banning public gatherings and calling in the military to help with law enforcement.

Curious as to why a MSM would report this and curious as to why they say it was implimented in the Bush administration.
That disturbs me almost more than a manufactured flu epidemic. Why would they try this kind of approach?

This is such a stupid comparison. It isn't 1918. The conditions that caused so many deaths don't exist.
In 1918 WWI was going on. Millions of solders were living in trenches, in the cold and wet, and being transported in cattle cars and ships. Millions more civilians were refugees, living in primitive conditions without proper sanitation or nutrition.
Almost all deaths from flu are really caused by secondary infections like pneumonia. Ninety years ago there were no antibiotics. Also millions of people lived in crowded tenements, without proper heat. Small children and old people often became sick and died from hypothermia in their beds.
All that isn't going to happen now. Every year about 35,000 people die form the side effects of normal flu in the United States. What we are looking at could be anything from a bunch of hype for a milder than normal flu, to a slightly worse than normal flu season.
This wouldn’t be an issue if we had Universal Free Health Care run by the UN.

I agree except this flu does a weird systemic thing. Autopsy reports are really ugly.
