Sasha and Malia Obama have avoided the spotlight thus far, but public interest in them is growing.
Could there be two luckier tweens in all of America than Malia and Sasha Obama?
The Jonas Brothers and Beyoncé sing for them. They get to meet the pope, the queen and Harry Potter. They get personal tours of the Eiffel Tower, the Kremlin, the Sistine Chapel, the Tower of London. They go to the best ice-cream parlor in Rome and make their own gelato. They have visited Yellowstone's Old Faithful and the Grand Canyon, gone whitewater rafting and picked peaches in Colorado. This week, they're relaxing at Martha's Vineyard, where the rich and famous and presidential while away their summers.
They've been having a grand time since arriving in the White House, mostly out of the public eye. So far.
President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama are trying to make their daughters' experience in the White House as educational and broadening as possible, taking them along on trips this summer with expressly didactic intentions.
"I want to teach them that Italy isn't just pizza," Michelle remarked in Rome in July during an official visit in which she and the girls toured the Eternal City's ancient sites, such as the Pantheon, the Colisseum and the Vatican's St. Peter's Basilica.

it can’t last too long, it sounds like some of his policies are coming from them.
I hope the Obama girls turn out to be as terrific as my daughters. Nobody should be blamed for who their parents are.
The press will stay away until they start visiting their daddy in jail.
It's also Pasta and Prosciutto... oh no ham for Barack.
Sounds to me like the media wants us to go after the Obama kids.
I’m not taking that bait.
Does Obama ever stay at the White House? Is he President or Gallivanter-in-Chief?
Indeed. The ONLY reason for writing such an article in the first place is to draw public attention to them, and the only reason for actively directing attention toward them is its perceived political benefit.
Oh please brer right winger, don’t throw the Obama girls in the briar patch.
..be an interesting study, how many days has the President been in the oval office being President in respect to pushing his agenda and scam on the American people while racking up unprecedented frequent flier miles and photo opts throughout the country?
I say when one of them wears a Che Guevara t-shirt in public. They’ve come awfully close to that.
As far as I can remember, it is the dimrats and their media that trashes family members of a repub president. Roger klintoon and billy carter would have been the topic of the day if we did things their way. Sorry, this is nothing but a bait story. The girls didn’t pick their parents.
The kids are of no interest to me. The parents are the problem and the parents do not get a pass.
The parents aren’t black, they are commie red thru and thru.
Wasn’t he AWOL about two weeks after moving in? He showed up at a grade school and said ‘I just had to get out of the White House’. Being President is NOT what he had imagined it would be.
Why would the Jonas Brothers sing for them? Their mama surely has taught them to look down on white people with hatred and disdain, just like she (the Gilded Wookie) does...
cripplecreek: “Oh please brer right winger, dont throw the Obama girls in the briar patch.”
Spot on!
While I agree the girls didn’t pick their parents, I’m so glad they are living in the lap of luxury on our dime. And, what kind of vacations did each of you enjoy these past 8 months with your kids? Care to share?
Sorry, but, I resent these American hating people living high on the hog while the country is in such deep trouble.
I don’t care if the media goes after them. (won’t happen) They sure trashed Sarah Palin’s kids. Oh, I forgot, she isn’t a DemRAT. I hate their double standard and I feel sad for obama’s girls who have been and are indoctrinated in their parent’s hatred for this country. Except, of course, when they get to see the world and have a grand time on the tax payers.
