Try to keep a straight face when you hear this: President Barack Obama isn't getting enough media love.
That's the world view of MSNBC "Hardball" host Chris Matthews - at least when it comes to the economy. According to Matthews, there has been a plethora of positive economic news - from a stock market that has shrugged off the threat of bad liberal policy, i.e. cap-and-trade or ObamaCare, to the actions of newly reappointed Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke of pumping liquidity into the economy.
"What do you make of this whole thing about the good economic news out there the president gets no credit for?" Matthews said on his Aug. 25 show. "I'm in the stock market. I have suffered like others before and I have seen this comeback - back up to almost 10,000 now. He gets nothing for this. The fact that consumer confidence, which was once closer to the bone, is way up. The fact that the Fed chair has done such a good job in pumping up the money supply and pumping back the economy, and averting a Great Depression - no credit."

We should be kissing the ground the Bamster walks on...
Did he want tingling above the leg?
I’m sure Chrissy will be FIRST in line to ‘love up’ on Zero.
Mathews has become America’s village idiot...
Excuse me while I throw up!
No village would claim him...
Well, it’s nice of Obama make everything perfect in the economic world. But ... in 6 months time, when we look at a devastating economic landscape — are we going to blame Bush for that?
I am thankful that I have never seen PMSNBC, much less Mr. pee on himself.
How does a fool like this live with himself?
Damn! There was a recovery and I missed it? Must have happened during a couple seconds while I was asleep.
Any economic activity is in spite of..not because of .. Obama.
Hey Tingles-Obama bulldozed the house down to put out the fire in the frying pan. This dummy turned a disaster into a catastrophe and reinflated the economic bubble.
Maybe it’s because the economy has come back to Carter’s 10% unemployment.
Wasn't there a "night of passion" Obama with another guy in a limo?
Hmmmm. . .
Wonder if Michelle has figured it out yet.
Obviously a rascist comment.
Given that the economy is taking, unemployment figures are planned to surge, the health care bill is a disaster - he wouldn’t say that about a white Republican with the same results - so he’s obviously a rascist.
Chrissy, if you'd get up off your knees and look over your shoulder you's see a long line of media whores waitng to take their turn
Is Matthews on crack? What good news? Just because the stock market is going up doesn't mean a thing as far as getting a job, keeping your house or imposing crushing debt on our children.
To quote Barney Frank: Chris, what planet do you live on?
Well, something like that.
Chris Matthews is a glittering jewel of collosal ignorance. Also, it appears he came out of the closet during the election campaign.
He even managed to revolt the gays that I know.
There are NO Obama policies designed to resolve ANY of the problems he pretends to address. Under his agenda the level and quality of healthcare will NOT be improved, the availablity of energy will not be improved, nor the environment “cleaned up”, employment levels will NOT improve, tax revenues will NOT increase.
The ONLY net effect is THE LEVEL OF FEDERAL CONTROL!

Re Obama not getting enough credit for the recovery:
Neither did Hoover, after the 1930 market bounce ended.
Unemployment still going up. Jobs still being lost at near-record rates. Inflation on the horizon. Record deficits. So where exactly is this “comeback” and when do we get to benefit from it?
what economy...Chris is just plain stupid.
this picture may be more true than we realize.
Get ready for the next crash, Chrissy.
It’s coming.
Because not all Americans are stupid enough to fall for the lie. This manufactured "good economic news" is temporary, and the crash that's coming is going to be worse than the disaster Oboma has already made of the economy.
(Bush had the market at record highs, and unemployment - at it's worst - was 4%. I don't remember Mathews giving Bush any credit.)
Matthews is on this morning talking with the other MSNBC mental midgets and making excuse after excuse for Kennedy’s bad behavior and his stand on the issues.
Can someone help my poor memory? I seem to recall that the Democrats said the stimulus package should be “timely, targeted and temporary”. Does anyone know who said that?
I’m sure Berkeley would be happy to claim him as their official village idiot
I imagine both his viewers are cheering....
hh
I can’t believe he claimed that Bernake prevented a second Great Depression.
1. What economic comeback?
2. Any "comeback" is in spite of the socialist thug, not because of him.
Matthews is a slobbering idiot of the highest degree!
What comback? Things are only getting less worse. We will bump along the bottom for a very long time. 5 years is my guess.
The ONLY net effect is THE LEVEL OF FEDERAL CONTROL!
Ding, ding ding...we have a winner!!!
It’s really bad when Olbermann is the heavyweight between the two.
Matthews is not on this planet.
Life is so much more pleasant with MSNBC removed from the channel rotation on all my TV sets.
For most of the Bush administration, the stock market was high, interest was low, unemployment was low, and home ownership was up. But he never got any credit; he only got credit when everything went sour in the last six months. During the good times, all good news was reported with a “but despite the good news, some say . . . “
E.J. Dionne had a column the other day giving Obama credit for saving us from the next great depression. Kind of like Obama’s unprovable “two million jobs saved or created” claims.
