Massachusetts has the most expensive family health insurance premiums in the country, according to a new analysis that highlights the state’s challenge in trying to rein in medical costs after passage of a landmark 2006 law that mandated coverage for nearly everyone.

The report by the Commonwealth Fund, a nonprofit health care foundation, showed that the average family premium for plans offered by employers in Massachusetts was $13,788 in 2008, 40 percent higher than in 2003. Over the same period, premiums nationwide rose an average of 33 percent.

Knowing Crapachussettes , they’ll probably tax ‘wealthy’ doctors more to ‘reduce’ the costs of health care.

Seriously, how incompetent are the Republicans, in every way? You look at the complete implosions of California, Massachusetts, New York, Chicago, Detroit, all the places run by liberal policies for 40 years, you look at the complete meltdowns and deficiencies of socialized medicine programs world-wide and in America (Massachusetts and Hawaii), and yet NO ONE on the Republican side is able to make an argument against all this crap.

This is true in Hawaii aslo as they have mandated that all employees who work over 20 hours per week must be covered.

Premiums went up and a lot of people have part-time (under 20 hr/week) jobs as employers try to sheild themselves from the run-away cost of insurance premiums.

Master of the obvious:

1) It's state mandated, you HAVE to purchase it
2) People who can pay for it are paying for the people who can't.

So, when you force people at gunpoint to buy insurance, and they're not allowed to cross state lines to buy the insurance, you mean to tell me that the insurance companies have a captive audience, and no incentive to control costs?

How 'bout that!

Now, what will happen when the whole country is forced at gunpoint to buy insurance? Guess we'll have to go to Single Payer!

But, but....our CongressCriminals have assured us there won't be any Single Payer.

Don't you believe them?

. . . the most expensive family health insurance premiums in the country,

A lesson in supply and demand. You create a demand without an increase in supply (government mandated), you will get an increase in price. It's that simple. Thanks Mitt!
