If only these 'leaders' put as much emphasis on the church's mission of saving souls and preaching the gospel as they do in destructing their church.

I switched to the Missouri Synod decades ago as I felt the ELCA was far too liberal for my views on faith.

Wednesday's vote was a prelude to votes scheduled Friday on whether to let people in same-sex relationships serve as Lutheran ministers.

This is the beginning of the end for the Lutheran church, IMO. Heretics have taken over; there is no "adult" leadership.

Why is there such a need to do this? Do they so desire to open up their congregations to this silly crap? Christianity has a clear mandate and it looks even more foolish playing this game. There are only two valid relationships endorsed in the bible in both the new and old testament. Only celibacy and cleaving to one’s wife are biblical. You can not be a believer and endorse homosexuality or any other pseudo sexual relationship without endorsing a clear contradiction to your faith. Whether it be religious or secular the idea of a homosexual relationship is a contradiction and it should be seen even more so by those who do not believe because such relationships make an organism less fit, more prone to disease, with a shorter lifespan.

Those who believe accepting homosexuality and other ideas sourced from a hedonist/low/primitive worldview are proving they are faithless because faith has at its core the idea that through grace we are forgiven and that we can become more like Christ not simply resign ourselves to indulge the low beliefs no matter how popular of a sinful world.

Guess these people are finding a new meaning in Luther’s concept about the BACK SIDE OF GOD (being revealed in the cross).

....same thing with Presbyterian Church USA....is it any wonder that it has been in decline for years?

I am Jewish, but am (frankly) sick of these so called religious leaders [whatever their stripe] distorting their own religion. If they want to start a new faith, fine, but leave the rest of us alone. My breaking point was when our rabbi decided to bless same sex unions. I had tolerated his liberal rants on Shabbat and high holidays for years, but this was it for me. I left his congregation (as did maybe 1/3 of the others). For months afterwards I got phone calls and letters urging me to reconsider and professing puzzlement as to why this was so divisive an issue. One even went as far to tell me to drop the “hatred in my heart”. I wrote a letter back effectively telling them to pi$$ off. There are some issues where you just need to draw the line—compromise be damned.

The ELCA is not Lutheran. Using Jesus’s requirement, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly My followers (John 8:31),” they are not Christian. A church body that changes the teachings of the Bible is not a Christian church and should be avoided as toxic to one’s soul.

From wiki: Eisegesis (from the Greek root εις, meaning into, in, among) is the process of misinterpreting a text in such a way that it introduces one's own ideas, reading into the text. This is best understood when contrasted with exegesis. While exegesis draws out the meaning from the text, eisegesis occurs when a reader reads his/her interpretation into the text. As a result, exegesis tends to be objective when employed effectively while eisegesis is regarded as highly subjective. An individual who practices eisegesis is known as an eisegete, as someone who practices exegesis is known as an exegete. The term eisegete is often used in a mildly derogatory fashion.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN - Leaders of the country's largest Lutheran denomination have moved toward a more welcoming view of homosexuality.

Well, that pretty much does it for me. I guess my wife gets her wish for me to convert to Catholicism.

"MINNEAPOLIS, MN - Leaders of the country's largest Lutheran denomination have moved toward a more welcoming view of homosexuality."

In a few short months it will not be the countrys largest Lutheran denomination.

The Liberal leadership wing of the ELCA have become their own Idols.

They think they are gods and they think they have made a name for themselves.

Think of the Tower of Babble.

Number one point I will state is - DO NOT PAINT ALL LUTHERAN CHRISTIANS WITH THE SAME BROAD BRUSH!

A vast number that were not there to vote are livid about this acton and they will be a splitting off.

Romans 6

Dead to Sin, Alive in Christ

1What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?
3Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
4We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
