Ping!
Maybe that helps explain the ascension of the ObaMessiah.
So 91% don’t.
That’s really weird. I know some people from just about every age group, that still drink a lot!!
What a strange story, sure short on details.
As a baby boomer, I ask who are these people? My baby boomer friends are to busy and involved in life to get high. And if they are, why aren’t they sharing?
Some boomers really need to grow the hell up!
____
Yes. They should be catching their buzz with approved substances only. Wine, beer, spirits, cigarettes, you know, stuff like that. How dare they go off the reservation and smoke some reefer?
My newly single mother has recently started hanging out with some single folks her own age and she says everybody smokes weed. She was shocked.
A lot are still getting high on liquor as well. We should kick in their doors and shoot their pets because they feel intoxicated. Additionally, we should report our neighbors and give the police paramilitary powers to stop people from consuming beer because beer makes people high.
Just curious...how old is your Mother? Mine’s 81 and it wouldn’t cross her mind.
59, and from a very small town in LA (Lower Alabama). They pretty much missed all the hippie crap in the 60’s.
As a baby boomer, I ask who are these people? My baby boomer friends are to busy and involved in life to get high. And if they are, why arent they sharing?
_____
They are your kid’s school teachers. Maybe the librarian at the public library. Perhaps even your attorney. Maybe your banker, or the PR guy.
I get a call periodically to sit in on the poker game my bro in law sits in on. The paragraph above is a list of their actual professions. Tokers, all of them. Boomers, all of them.
As for why they are not sharing ... maybe they don’t think you’d approve or want to join in.
Or how people are going to cope for the next 3.5 years.
My AA sponsor says weed is also verbotten. :-(
59 makes perfect sense. I went to a James Taylor concert 20 years ago and joints were being passed around by all the 40 somethings. I was 28 at the time.
I do think this has alot to do with it. I have tried to have logical conversations with weed smoking idiots in their 50's. They all have pits in their brains and keep repeating " global warming", " pot should be legal", " we need change", " big companies are bad", " Bush ruined this country". So we have stoned out mind numb robots as well as mind numb robots who are just morons out there voting.
Perhaps she needs to find a different crowd!
Perhaps, but the folks she hangs with are all conservative and moderately to very successful people. Oh, and she met a lot of them at Church.
They are too paranoid ; )
I think there is a “bigger picture” to life than getting high on illicit drugs. Even if they were legalized.
Some people need to mind their own business.
Yeah, but she could end up thrown in the pokey! BTW I hang out with a crowd similar to that, except none of them smoke pot (or if they do, they don’t brag about it).
Stereotype much? The majority of people I know that smoke are conservatives, many are professionals and all but one are quite intelligent...he pickled his brain on booze.
Thanks for the tip.
The rest get their Prozac legally.
They sure as hell got high when they voted for Odinga!
LOL. About 20 years ago, in my 20’s, some friends and I were sitting in a Middle Eastern restaurant. The group of 30-somethings and 40-somethings sitting on pillows at the next table were passing around a joint, laughing and talking about how they were schoolteachers who busted some students for doing the same thing. :-0
Ping list for the discussion of the politics and social (and sometimes nostalgic) aspects that directly effects Generation Reagan / Generation-X (Those born from 1965-1981) including all the spending previous generations are doing that Gen-X and Y will end up paying for.

Nothing personal directed at you. What people do in public or on the road is one thing but this is one of those “things” that’s a personal choice and a privacy issue on one hand and an area the government intrudes on the other.
Ever go to a Phish concert? Check out “ Shakedown Street “ in the parking lots . I would say 99% of the people at the concert were high on some sort of drug . From nitrous to acid . The lights went out , the lighters lit up, and in ten minutes all you could see was tops of heads in the floor level seating .
I generally agree, I guess my comment was aimed at those boomers who keep cramming their youth down our throats. I don’t care about the 40th anniversary of woodstock, etc.. It is like they keep trying to relive it over and over again. I know it is not all of them.
they are sharing just not with you. LOL, I am constantly surprised at how many of my business contacts still smoke a little green leafy plant. People you would never guess that do.
(Knock on nursing home dooor)
“Dave’s not here, man!”
Most of us baby boomer-types gave up drug use soon after getting a job, or after realizing that drug use was hurting our ability to do our jobs well and making us mentally ill, too. For, me it was the latter. I quit the devil weed over 20 years ago (after a dozen years of abuse) and have never touched it again. I wouldn’t even know where to get it at this point, nor do I care to know. The prospect of confused thinking and paranoia is not all that compelling. I’ll stick to my Scotch and cigars, thanks.
Doncha know, folks don’t get high, or catch a buzz on alcohol. It is only illegal drugs that folks get high on. Folks consuming alcoholic beverages are just being social.
/sarc
I wholeheartedly agree about the Scotch and Cigars!!!
420 Seniors bump
lol
At least boozers won’t eat an orange couch cushion thinking it was a Cheeto.

My tastes have changed somewhat, over the years.
I think there’s something in the water in Nashville. I don’t have a problem with it, but I was surprised.

Dependent Subjects are Odedient Subjects, and less likely to be able to resist the effects of the “guests” referenced in your tagline...
Will the pot smokers enjoy having their daughters forced to wear burkas?
Stupid is as Stupid does.
I don’t do dope anymore but I sure do a lot of acid....ahem...reflux that is.
Used to be you could get heroin and cocaine at the local drug store, and all the marijuana you could stand, maybe we should go back to those good old days of the early 20th century. What could go wrong?
My favorite drug is Jack Daniels, or any good bourbon for that matter, matched with a good cigar......no other drug I have ever done is as good as that combo and I am so happy they are still legal.......for now.
Is that the new logo for the BATF?
No, but it damned well ought to be.
LOL it may well be an issue of where one is.
Not to rain on anyone’s parade, but I see no benefit to illicit drugs. I have made 59 years without them. Yes, I do enjoy my scotch, wine or beer.
_____
Exactly, my friend. You say potayto, I say patahto. 6 of one, half dozen of the other. The primary difference, the 6 is legal, the half dozen not.
