5,000 fewer guns turned in under [Chicago]city program (Gee...I wonder why?)

Fewer than 2,000 guns were turned in for gift cards Saturday as part of Chicago's annual gun buy-back event.

This year's total -- 1,887 -- was significantly lower than last year's take of 6,800 guns, officials said.

A Chicago Police spokeswoman said she could not account for the slide in gun turn-ins.

City residents who turned in a gun at any of 27 participating churches Saturday received a gift card for $10, $50 or $100, depending on the type of gun, no questions asked.

Corporate donations to fund the buy-back program suffered this year because of the economy, lowering the amount offered for handguns.

How can this be happening? Why would anyone want to keep a gun in Chicago when we have the police to protect our streets!

No matter what, criminals WILL keep theirs while others are been forced to turn in theirs.

“Corporate donations to fund the buy-back program suffered this year because of the economy”

This is hilarious. In most states and cities run by libs the govt turned in record-breaking budget requests, so taxes went up and city services got cut, “corporate sponsors” are anticipating high taxes and unknown health care cost jumps.

Yet it’s “the economy” that’s causing the problem (and we all know that this economy was “inherited”, right right right, my droogs?)

Then they melt down those guns very possibly destroying evidence in criminal investigations and obstructing justice by tampering with evidence. Aren’t those felonies?
