Increased police patrols are promised in the area around Leland and Sheridan in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood after "near riot-like" activity in the streets the past few nights.
Video from the area appears to show about a dozen people running back and forth in the street, breaking bottles and yelling. One NBCChicago.com visitor wrote of "near riot-like ga More..ng fighting," and said that shots were fired Thursday night at about 10:30. In the video, purportedly shot Wednesday night, a squad car passes through and tells the crowd to disperse. Later, several marked cars appear. Police later confirmed that one person was arrested. One officer suffered minor injuries.

Police confirmed that the activity is "probably gang-related," and said the video is being reviewed by tactical teams and watch commanders in the district

Hmmmm...I wonder why....
That situation was differenct from when I was growing up in near Detoit back in the late 50’s. The Cops drove arounds in Big Black 4door Buicks with 4cops in it looking from more than two punks on a Corner. And God help you if they cought you. Ah the good old days.

They call that a riot? It looks more like a hissy fit. We had REAL riots back in the 60’s.
The cops should have blocked off the streets and let them go at each other. When they were done, round up the survivors.
If they want to fight help them to do it right and cordon them off from the civilized people, give them weapons and ammo, let them go at it for a few days, come back and if anyone is left standing throw in some more ammo. They will eventually kill each other off and the world will be a better place.
Somebody needs to organize that community.
