Congressman Hank Johnson, who represents most of Brookhaven, will be holding a town hall meeting on health care reform legislation on Monday, August 10, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Cole Auditorium on the Clarkston Campus of Georgia Perimeter College.
If you have the time, I hope you will make the short trip around I-285 to express your views on this important issue.
One of my constituents brought up a good point about why this meeting is important: If you write Congressman Johnson a letter or an e-mail, its highly unlikely hell see it. This is an opportunity where you can be sure he will hear directly from you.
There is at least an hour allocated for public comment. Invited speakers include the CEO of Grady Hospital, Michael Young, and the DeKalb County Health Director, Dr. Sandra Ford.
I believe this is the congressional seat once held by Cynthia McKinney.
Can’t remember exactly but I saw something recent about Hank Johnson...whether it was healthcare “reform”, Cap and Tax or what it was but he said something that showed he had no clue what was in the bill he was talking about.
Anyway, I believe he’s a Democrat hack pol so if this meeting isn’t packed with that side I’ll be surprised.
What is the over/under on how long the meeting will last before he bolts?
I’m new to Atlanta, where is Brookhaven?
Unfortunately, I moved into the sliver of Vinings that got gerrymandered into David Scott’s district. What a dignified guy he is, yelling and screaming at the constituents who showed up to a public meeting and asked him about his views on healthcare.
That town hall with Scott was linked on another forum I’m on, I just watched it. Just damn, is all you can say.
And yes, you’re in quite the gerrymandered district, no doubt. Hey, I got moved for several years from Newt’s old GA-6th into Cynthia McKinney’s district. This was a real nightmare as you might imagine. We’re now back into the 6th, with Tom Price, who is a good guy.
That is correct, Hank Johnson is the Rep from the GA 4th, which is Cynthia’s old district.
I’m going to ping a bunch of folks who are still in that district.
Their trick is to use small rooms so you can not get in. They let the Unions and ACORNS in the back door. Plan on protesting from outside if that happens. Surround the Building and give em the what for.

I watched the News 11 video and that Congressman is typical of the reprehensible lying sociopaths that we’ve sent to Capitol Hill.
The meeting is NOT in the Brookhaven area. It is being held on the Clarkston Campus of Georgia Perimeter College, with is on the EAST side of Atlanta, OUTSIDE the perimeter at the Memorial Drive exit off I-285.
This link,
provides both a map to the campus and a campus map. Cole Auditorium is marked as building "CF" on the campus map.
Hope to see all of you there.

Are you sure? I was born and raised in Brookhaven (Which is just SE of Doraville, about 5 miles from Lenox Square on Peachtree) Most of that area was and still is quite white and affluent, particulary around Oglethorpe College.
Hard to believe the egregious Ms. Kinney was elected there.
When Cynthia McKinney's district was first formed in 1991 (the 11th District back then), I happened to live in South Dekalb. At that time, the District stretched all the way to Augusta along I-20 and Savannah along I-16 south of Macon. Democrats will do anything to maintain power while at the same time minimize the number of black Reps.
Take a look at a map of the district:
The demographics of that part of the district are overwhelmed by those in South DeKalb, along I-20, Stone Mt, Lithonia, etc. Even though much of it is middle class black suburbia, they're still voting for Dems all the way.
I can’t belive Brookhaven, including my alma mater (Cross Keys High) was represented by that complete nutjob.
Dear gibbering gods, if I’d had to rely on her to represent my interests with the Department of Veterans Affairs, I’d be dead.
Sigh
Dunwoody is no longer in the GA-4th. We got moved back into the GA-6th, where we belong, after the 2000 census re-draw.
Funny you should mention Cynthia and Veterans Affairs.
I organized a FReep of Cynthia in Spring of 2002 after seeing an announcement that she would be holding a “Veterans Town Hall Meeting” at the Decatur Library. We had a what I consider a successful FReep, as we got about as much air time as she did, and punched through the message that she had never cared for the military and was only doing the event because of 9/11.
While we were there, an older gentleman came up and chatted with us. He was a former national president of the VFW who lived somewhere south of town. He was there to “keep an eye on things” for the VFW, who had gotten wind of this thing. Needless to say, he was glad to see us.
By the way, my understanding is that John Linder and his office did a good job of covering constituent services for the 4th district while Cynthia held it. It’s probably not as necessary with Hank Johnson. While I disagree with his politics, he seems like an OK human, and not pure scum like Cynthia.
It's funny you mention that. When she was in office, the city of Decatur had to hire a lobbyist to represent their needs before Congress. Essentially, she offered them no representation whatsoever.
Yeah, I was just looking at your map. My church is along Mt. Vernon, so I am glad to see it no longer serves the 4th.
I currently live in the 6th (Roswell). I got mad at Price back during the Amnesty fiasco, but he has turned back into a bonafide conservative since Obama took office.
I saw him speak last Saturday at the Red State Gathering in Buckhead. In general, he gets it. As a doctor, he is hugely against this health care fiasco.
Ask them why the Obama DeathCare has lifetime free healthcare and retirement benefits for union workers and their spouses.
You - they get PRIVATE healthcare like Congress plus retirement benefits.
