he had announced earlier this year that he was going to step down....crist announced shortly after that he is running for the open seat...some think crist will step down and the lt gov will pick him to fill the seat then he can run as an incumbent....its all shadey with those guys...

He was already retiring at the end of his term in 2010.
Definitely sounds a little suspicious. Palin at least had an obvious reason to leave office, the legal bills.
