Gog, Magog And The Iraq Invasion
The Atlantic ^ | 8/6/09 | Andrew Sullivan

Posted on 08/06/2009 8:53:45 AM PDT by steve-b

It is in many ways the weirdest shard of reporting from those years, and its testimony is from no less than the former president of France:

The president of the United States, in a top-secret phone call to a major European ally, asked for French troops to join American soldiers in attacking Iraq as a mission from God. Now out of office, Chirac recounts that the American leader appealed to their "common faith" (Christianity) and told him: "Gog and Magog are at work in the Middle East…. The biblical prophecies are being fulfilled…. This confrontation is willed by God, who wants to use this conflict to erase his people's enemies before a New Age begins."
Is this true?...

It seems more likely to me that Chirac would lie than that GWB would use such language to him.

This is Sullivan channeling that crazy in West Virginia.

It's awkward to say openly, but now-departed President Bush is a religious crackpot, an ex-drunk of small intellect who "got saved." He never should have been entrusted with power to start wars.

If GW wanted to “erase” the enemies of “his people,” (presumably the Jews) he had much more effective means at his control than pleading for support from France.

to talk about in the Atlantic?

That’s some good reporting there. No wonder mags and papers are tanking.

Posting hearsay as an open question is not journalism, Andrew? The reason it is most likely not true is that any mature individual in Bush’s position can envision an Andrew Sullivan at some later date making hay off of such an encounter and would defer to more diplomatic language based on just that.

It’s funny how Sullivan is willing to print this but leaves the open secret about John Edward’s baby Momma to the National Equirer when virtually everyone knew the truth. Lame Lame Lame...Andrew never disappoints.

There is no evidence that GW Bush believes that the Land Of Israel is anything special to his Christian faith.

This is leftist fantasy unrelated to any verified reality.

Is this true? I haven't seen it denied and it's barely been reported stateside.

Most likely it hasn't been reported stateside because it's BS. So much of political discourse these days depends on baseless rumors and conspiracy theories - and Andrew Sullivan is one of the generators.

I didn’t know Yale accepted people of small intellect. But, of course, looking at the Senate and Congress lately, I can see where most colleges do accept people of small intellect and we elected them!Oh, did we ever get Obama’s grades in college?

He didn’t have a hit piece on Palin today so he used this nonsense and one on a creation park where the operators (unlawfully so) refused to pay witholdings (they should have).

But the mere fact that Andrew Sullivan understands very little about the Gog of Magog war of Ezekiel 38 is no surprise at all.

'This confrontation is willed by God, who wants to use this conflict to erase his people's enemies before a New Age begins.'

It would bot surprise me in the least that someone like President Bush would have said something like that.

The Family and other branches of the NWO have been using Gov't and Religion for years. Dominionist would love to use Gov't to bring forth prophesies and the 'New Age'.

Chirac spent years trying to tear down W. Bush and the United States. But he proved woefully incompetent in doing so. At times he even seemed desperate to “replace” the US as a superpower with some other, *any* other arrangement.

He appealed to Russia, then created the “Year of China” in France, hoping for an allegiance that would “counterbalance” the US, and hopefully elevate France back to being a world power.

Likely he was behind French support to Saddam Hussein, selling him weapons to use against the US military. And he certainly was conducive to bribes from Saddam, payoffs in the oil for food scandal.

Chirac also proposed several “international” taxes, was a strong proponent of the Man Made Global Warming hoax, called for a one world government, etc., etc.

He was an ugly, nasty little toad.

The prophecy being referenced is Ezekiel chapter 38.

but it has NOTHING to do with France or the United States.

Gog and Magog is actually a reference to Russia:

Eze 38:1 And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him,

Russia is not alone though.... other nations are also mentioned:

Eze 38:5 Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet: Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: [and] many people with thee.

Persia is a reference to Iran... and this great alliance masses forces to invade Israel from the north:

Eze 38:15 And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army:

That is when this massive invasion force gets "wiped out", and all the nations will know that it was God's wrath:

Eze 38:22 And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that [are] with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. Eze 38:23 Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I [am] the LORD.

There is no evidence that GW Bush believes that the Land Of Israel is anything special to his Christian faith.

In fact, when Bush visited Israel, in January 2008, the Sanhedrin, the Temple and the New Jewish Congress gave him the "Bush Scroll", which called President Bush the Chief Prince of Gog and Magog.

http://www.templeinstitute.org/megillat-bush.htm

"Esteemed Mr. George W. Bush, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal (Ezekiel 38:1), leader of the west!"

..."The Land of Israel was bequeathed to the nation of Israel by the Creator of the world. Neither could I, as a son of my faith, nor the Muslims according to their faith, ever take away even the slightest grain from the Eternal's gift, which He gave to His people Israel, the eternal people. Thus I call upon all the nations to save themselves from certain doom, to return and recognize That this land is the exclusive rightful inheritance of the people of Israel, as is written in the Torah of Israel, which constitutes the very foundation of our faith, as well as that of Islam; and is the basis for the decisions of the community of nations. He who denies this truth endangers all life on earth...."

So...I would assume that many in Israel agree with you.

I can’t understand how the Temple Institute came to that conclusion. Gog of Magog assists and in fact, leads Persia and Libya and Ethiopia in the attempt to invade Israel. Further, “chief prince of Meschech and Tubal” couldn’t possibly be ascribed to the United States.

It was a surprising conclusion...almost shocking, given that the Sanhedrin and the Temple was involved.

Some have thought that they ascribed "Chief Prince" to Bush because he, and his admin., supported some form of giving Israel's land to Israel's enemy, which is an attack against Israel. An attack which is akin to the attack carried out by the Chief Prince of Ezekiel 38:1.

I would imagine that that is the attitude that caused the writing of the Bush Scroll as it does reflect the spirit of the Chief Prince.
