Dems' Plan Will Eliminate Health Insurance

The goal of the Democrats' plan for health-care reform is coming more and more out into the open: they want to eliminate health insurance.

This has turned out to be the most passionate source of public opposition to the Obama health-care bill. People are terrified that they will be deprived of any choice or any control over their own health care if their only option is to depend on the...

--snip--

Do the Democrats even understand what insurance is? Over at Mother Jones, Kevin Drum muses that "Health insurance is a weird industry…. They don't do research, they don't perform surgeries, they don't change bedpans, and they don't make diagnoses. They're just middlemen. All they do is pay the bills…. But for some reason we're supposed to care about whether they continue to exist or not."

Get that? "All they do is pay the bills." Taking for granted the fact that someone else is going to somehow produce wealth and pay the bills, while you sit back and make petulant demands about how you want it to be done better and with fewer hassles—isn't that the whole leftist mentality in a nutshell?

Insurance is a form of financing. It is a contract under which a health-insurance company agrees to pay for medical bills that could run into the tens of thousands of dollars, if you are hit by a bus or are diagnosed with cancer, so that you don't have to pay for those bills out of your savings. For younger people, this means being able to pay for catastrophic care even if you haven't had time to build up tens of thousands of dollars in savings. For older people, this means not having your retirement savings or the equity in your home get wiped out by an unexpected illness...

the democrats want to control our health care so they can control everything that affects our health. Once they have complete control of our lives, they will tell us what they are going to charge us for doing it.

They want to be important. They want to be the center of our attention. They want us to be grateful for doctor visits. They want to hand out health care like they hand out highway funds. Instead of “I took the initiative in creating the Internet” it will be “I took the initiative in providing the doctor that found your ulcer.”

Preach it, brother! And how 'bout those doctors? All they do is run tests, make diagnoses, prescribe treatment and crap like that. But for some reason we're supposed to care about whether they continue to exist or not. Sheesh.

If you read the legislation, it obvious there is no way private insurance can survive under those conditions. They say we need the “public option” to keep the private insurance companies honest. Who’s going to keep the bureaucrats honest when all the private insurance is gone? Sure as hell ain’t nobody doing it now.

They don't believe in a death penalty for the criminal, but do believe in letting good people die who could be saved.

One of the greatest lessons of Mesa Verde is the rise, then the fall of the culture.

Initially, the dead were treated with reverence, buried in their finest clothing on the mesa top, awash with trinkets to entertain them in their journey through time.

Eventually, though, the dead were simply tossed off the cliff edge, onto the village's communal garbage dump -- just another piece of trash to be rid of.

By the latter stage, the culture was doomed and the end was near.

The Obama health care program sounds very much like the latter stages of the Mesa Verde culture...

First, you get a universal right to Health care.

Next, the poor complain that the rich are able to afford insurance that they can not and this is unfair. After all a right is a right and it must be applied equally.

The country staggering under an unendurable debt must cut costs in it's most expensive sector as the military has already been mostly done away with.

Health care rationing is introduced as a cost saving measure applying across the board. This includes waiting periods, prohibited procedures, age cutoffs for chronic illnesses, etc.

The commissars (formally known as czars) exempt themselves from public health care and travel to India and Singapore at government expense for serious health problems. After all, they have to be healthy to administer the plan for the poor (all the rest of us left alive at this point)

The buzz in the break rooms of east Tennessee industries is fear being expressed by workers coming over the border from Virginia to work. The fear is that they will be cut off from their doctors, specialists, and hospitals. The high level healthcare for people in Southwest Virginia is in the cities of Kingsport and Bristol Tennessee at hospitals and medical centers.

When government run health care that is run on a state by state basis, crossing state lines will become very difficult or impossible. This means that very long trips up Interstate 81 to the Blacksburg/ Roanoke area will be necessary for serious care like cardiac surgery of high level cancer care . Al though the President was recently in Bristol, He apparently did not realize the major hospital serving the visited Bristol Virginia people is part of the Welmont system and is actually in Tennessee.

The fear is that Obamacare will bring death to the ill served folks in Southwest Virginia

The fear is chilling.
