Or, just the audio.
More to come on this tomorrow.
I gotta hit the sack.
Back when we knew john mcshame was going to be the inevitable GOP candidate, but before the primaries were over, I was part of a group that lobbied John Bolton HARD to announce that he would accept the nomination if drafted. We had everything ready to go to start a grassroots draft petition.
We had confirmation from leaders like Dobson and others willing to endorse him. There was Conservative money waiting to be had. There were even people in his office willing to help us.
He turned us down flat.
He would have been the perfect Conservative candidate, but we could not convince him and we tried for months. I wonder if he regrets it now.
From your keyboard to God's eyes.
Perhaps 0bama will succeed where you failed?
[After 0bama, wouldn’t it be refreshing to have a President who actually loves America]
Same goes for Fred: Missed opportunities. Maybe now he sees that we need him to help Sarah, especially in the foreign policy/defense arena. Sort of her “Dick Cheney” if you will. He has been one of the most vocal and prolific critics of the current de facto chief executive.
Bolton would have been an awesome candidate. Every Conservative I talked to, including the Evangelicals who were reluctant to endorse anybody at first, were actually excited at the prospect of having him run. They held back their endorsements as long as they could and were very dissappointed that he refused.
I have confirms from Liberty University faculty members, Falwell, Dobson, Robertson, et al, the Who’s Who of the religious right and the RJC.
John Bolton would have swept 0 off the map like a tidal wave. I was depressed for months after he turned us down. I don’t think I’m over it still.
Every time I see him on the TV screen, I really do wonder if he doesn’t have regrets. I know I sure do.
I don’t think the fire was ever really there for Fred either. He was also a reluctant candidate. Lord, how I wish...
But as I am fond of telling my business partner, if wishes were fishes, we would all live in the sea.
Sigh....
*shrug* He may yet.
What an amazing ticket this would be.
