WASHINGTON Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., has been diagnosed with an early stage of prostate cancer and intends to have surgery early in August, his office said Friday.
Dodd intends to be back at work when Congress reconvenes in September, according to an e-mail his office circulated to fellow senators. The AP obtained a copy.
Aides also said the diagnosis would not affect Dodd's plans to seek a sixth term in 2010.

reaping and sowing... it’s a universal law... no matter how rich, or how poor, how honest or how corrupt
Same with Imus. Interesting - we had a guy at the office who had it around 7 years ago. Had the surgery is is fine.
No comment beyond...Prostate cancer is a miserable disease.
OK......
Let him check out Dendreon and its treatment called Provenge. They’ve had a noninvasive prostate cancer treatment that should have been approved two years ago that got shot down by the FDA under dubious circumstances. Lots of Dodd’s hedge fund buddies had a hand in keeping it off the market. Check out www.deepcapture.com for the whole story.
I wonder if he had to pick a urologist who was a member of his insurance group to be covered like we all will...
Best wishes and hopes that he beats the disease and recovers fully.
Con-summate Marxist um I mean Democrat Politics in action!
welp, next to being a black professor, that’s the closest thing a scam artist can get to a protective force-field.
I hope he has a full recovery FOLLOWING HIS RESIGNATION FROM THE SENATE.
Put him under Obamacare and give him a few painkillers.
i hope he recovers. I’d recommend he step down to fight it full time.
Give him a pain pill.
[Aides also said the diagnosis would not affect Dodd’s plans to seek a sixth term in 2010.]
Of course not. Probably the only reason this information has even been made public is to drum up a sympathy vote.
He is still a corrupt, evil man who deserves jail time not re-election.
Extra serious when you’re as big a d*** as Dodd is.
I know it’s highly treatable, but I think we need to ask ourselves some tough questions. At his age, maybe just giving some palliative medication is the right way to go.
Best wishes, but the partisan in me at least has to question the timing as an either a attempt at the sympathy vote or maybe even a way to back out on a race it appears he can’t win.
Mr. Dodd...are youu going to Canada or UK for the best treatment??
LLS
So he is corrupt AND sick.
In France, the survival rate for Prostate Cancer is 25 percent.
If you live in the United States and get prostate cancer, you have a 93 percent chance of survival.
Seems like a teachable moment, Mr. Dodd ...
I wonder if he will seek treatment in the UK or Canada. There is no way he would choose to go through this in the terrible US system in such desperate need of reform. /s
According to Obama, he should be in hospice care, give him a blue pill and call it the day.
Nah, I don’t wish cancer on anyone so I am just gonna leave it alone. But this should make Dodd think, how would he be treated under ObamaCare
Just about every man his age on the planet is in the early stages of prostate cancer.
Bummer.
So do you think he plans to take the red pill, or the green one...paving the way for other older men with prostate cancer?
A teachable moment for Tommy. Too many fat-laden steaks from from his bank cronie friends.
Well, so much for him being a perfect a-hole.
You two got it right. Bammy sez, “Maybe you’re better off not having the surgery, but taking the painkiller.”
He’ll never be under Obamacare. Just like Kennedy, he’s entitled to Cadillac treatment.
I would have preferred to have seen pancreatic
Oh, it's Senator Dodd. No waiting line at any time. Just shove a serf out of the way.
My thoughts exactly, invisible hand.
Nope different rules for him than for the rest of us.
Did she also tell you to announce it to the world?
He’s angling for the sympathy vote.
I guess a neck brace wouldn’t help him any.
Oh no! First Post-Pardum depression keeps Palin from being able to perform her duties and now Dodd must step down because of his ‘Man’ problems, too.
oops! post-partum depression, sorry!
BTW, did you see the mention that zerO's USSC nominee, Ms. S has had type I diabetes for over 40 yrs? I'm sure they will give her the best care possible when she starts having complications....
Not in it's early stages it isn't. I had it and never would have known without a PSA Test my doctor ordered because I turned 50. Had surgery and I'm fine. So will he while he rots in jail.
Damn, early stage. Good thing he will never have to have rationed healthcare. There will no longer be such a thing as early detection.
has a real pain in his ass! God does work...
in mysterious ways-
A Dodd supporter in Japan just said to Mr. Dodd...’Good luck in your next erection’.
I wonder if he got a ‘sweetheart deal’ from his Proctologist?
A little leftover from those sandwiches he and Ted Kennedy used to share.
That is unfortunate since he is a human being and suffering is terrible, even if it is to someone like him.
However, I wouldn’t worry about prostate cancer keeping him from a 6th term... Connecticut voters will do that for him. Unless he is using this to get sympathy votes.
I was listening to his press conference and he’s known about it since June. He was talking about how fortunate he is to have such great insurance, and how important it is to pass Obamascare. What an ass. He’s actually using this press conference to promote Obamascare. I now have NO sympathy. It’s all about Obamascare! What nerve!! He is a total fraud! I am REALLY angry that he would use something like prostate cancer to push Obamascare! He stated that he is fine and running again in 2010. He’s obviously looking for a sympathy bump in the polls.
