WASHINGTON – Sen. Christopher Dodd, D-Conn., has been diagnosed with an early stage of prostate cancer and intends to have surgery early in August, his office said Friday.

Dodd intends to be back at work when Congress reconvenes in September, according to an e-mail his office circulated to fellow senators. The AP obtained a copy.

Aides also said the diagnosis would not affect Dodd's plans to seek a sixth term in 2010.

Let him check out Dendreon and its treatment called Provenge. They’ve had a noninvasive prostate cancer treatment that should have been approved two years ago that got shot down by the FDA under dubious circumstances. Lots of Dodd’s hedge fund buddies had a hand in keeping it off the market. Check out www.deepcapture.com for the whole story.

Give him a pain pill.

Of course not. Probably the only reason this information has even been made public is to drum up a sympathy vote.

He is still a corrupt, evil man who deserves jail time not re-election.

I know it’s highly treatable, but I think we need to ask ourselves some tough questions. At his age, maybe just giving some palliative medication is the right way to go.

Best wishes, but the partisan in me at least has to question the timing as an either a attempt at the sympathy vote or maybe even a way to back out on a race it appears he can’t win.

In England, the survival rate for Prostate Cancer is a little over 50 percent.

In France, the survival rate for Prostate Cancer is 25 percent.

If you live in the United States and get prostate cancer, you have a 93 percent chance of survival.

Seems like a teachable moment, Mr. Dodd ...

According to Obama, he should be in hospice care, give him a blue pill and call it the day.
Nah, I don’t wish cancer on anyone so I am just gonna leave it alone. But this should make Dodd think, how would he be treated under ObamaCare

Hopefully his doctor will be able to explain to him that it is good he was diagnosed this year when he could get treatment immediately rather than waiting until next year under Obamacare when there will already be a three year waiting list for treatment.

Oh, it's Senator Dodd. No waiting line at any time. Just shove a serf out of the way.

My dad recently underwent the Davinci robotic prostatectomy for prostate cancer and is recovering well. This type of system is something that will not be available to all when Obamacare arrives.

BTW, did you see the mention that zerO's USSC nominee, Ms. S has had type I diabetes for over 40 yrs? I'm sure they will give her the best care possible when she starts having complications....

Prostate cancer is a miserable disease.

Not in it's early stages it isn't. I had it and never would have known without a PSA Test my doctor ordered because I turned 50. Had surgery and I'm fine. So will he while he rots in jail.

That is unfortunate since he is a human being and suffering is terrible, even if it is to someone like him.

However, I wouldn’t worry about prostate cancer keeping him from a 6th term... Connecticut voters will do that for him. Unless he is using this to get sympathy votes.

I was listening to his press conference and he’s known about it since June. He was talking about how fortunate he is to have such great insurance, and how important it is to pass Obamascare. What an ass. He’s actually using this press conference to promote Obamascare. I now have NO sympathy. It’s all about Obamascare! What nerve!! He is a total fraud! I am REALLY angry that he would use something like prostate cancer to push Obamascare! He stated that he is fine and running again in 2010. He’s obviously looking for a sympathy bump in the polls.
