WASHINGTON – Americans are more likely to disapprove than approve of how President Barack Obama dealt with the racially tinged dispute between a white Cambridge, Mass., police officer and a well-known black Harvard scholar — with disapproval especially strong among white voters, according to a poll released Thursday.
The July 16 arrest of Henry Louis Gates Jr. for disorderly conduct in his own home sparked a national debate over racial profiling and police conduct. The controversy intensified after Obama last Wednesday said police "acted stupidly" when they arrested Gates, who is a friend of his.
The poll by the nonpartisan Pew Research Center found that 41 percent disapproved of Obama's handling of the Gates arrest, compared with 29 percent who approved. The poll also found the incident and Obama's reaction saturated the public consciousness. As many as 80 percent of Americans said they are now aware of Obama's comments on the matter.

Why is it that when a 25 year old assistant to some politico in NY expresses her opinion on her myspace page, she'd driven immediately out of her job, but when the President or anyone else with the opposite position does so, it's, at worst, "mishandling words" or a "poor choice of words" and can be made all better with a beer?
Why is the first case unforgiveable, and the second case merely accidental?
Obama has no experience with hard work, high pressure, or public disapproval.

The affirmative action president needs to just read what people write for him to say from the teleprompter. Otherwise people may get wise to his act.

I saw one of his butt-boys say this morning that 0bama needs a vacation. He’s already had a half dozen vacations and countless “date-nights” at taxpayer expense. If it is so tough, he can resign.
Those 29% are either Barry loving Dems/Libs or minorities.

They mention that whites by a 2:1 margin disapprove. No mention on the black or Hispanic breakdown. Methinks that would be telling.
